This thesis presents a physics analysis performed with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider with data from the Run 2 (2015-2018) period of proton-proton collision at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity used for physics analyses of 139 inverse-fb. The analysis is a search for resonant and non-resonant Higgs boson pair production in the two bottom quarks and two photon final state. Special focus is given to the event selection strategy for the resonant search using multi-variate techniques. The conflict in Northern Uganda is recognized as having come to an end with the signing of a cessation of hostilities agreement between the Lord’s Resistance Army and the Government of Uganda in August 2006, which resulted in improved security. Estimates suggest that the majority of the displaced populations have left their camps and moved either to transit sites near farms or to their village of origin. Much research has been done on the living conditions of women in the Ugandan IDP camps yet very little has been written on the situation for women who return home or resettle after the camp. Koistinen and Mäntymäki examine how graphic violence evokes affect in the context of ecological destruction in the UK-produced TV crime fiction series Fortitude (2015–17). They argue that the series mobilises generic exchange by incorporating speculative elements into a traditional crime narrative structure, thereby creating space for affective estrangement. They show how the amalgamation of violence, ecological destruction and affect serves as an entrance into socioecological critique with a strong cautionary element through the negotiation between the human and nonhuman and the ethics of violence. Tutkin työssäni, miten eri-ikäiset peruskoululaiset hahmottavat eri vallankäytön rakenteiden ympärillään rakentuvan. Kenellä koululaiset hahmottavat olevan valtaa vaikuttaa yhteisiin asioihin ja millaisina he näkevät omat vaikuttamisen mahdollisuutensa näiden rakenteiden keskellä? Aihetta on tärkeä tutkia, sillä jo valtakunnallinen opetussuunnitelma nimeää yhdeksi koulujen keskeiseksi tehtäväksi kansalaisten kasvattamisen aktiivisiksi yhteiskunnan jäseniksi. Koulutuksen pitäisi tarjota paitsi tietoja tuosta yhteiskunnasta myös taitoja sen kehittämiseen. Silti tavoitteet tuntuvat toteutuvan valjusti etenkin alakoulujen puolella. Marita Kontoniemi on tutkinut opettajien kokemuksia koulujen alisuoriutujista. Heitä on arvioitu olevan jopa viidennes oppilaista, poikia valtaosa. Alisuoriutujat ovat heikon koulumenestyksensä vuoksi syrjäytymisvaarassa. Mitä tällaisen oppilaan opettaminen merkitsee opettajalle? Onko kyseessä arvojen yhteen törmääminen, valtataistelu vai persoonallisuuksien yhteen sopimattomuus? Onko ongelma didaktinen eriyttämis- ja motivointiasia?
