Due to globalisation, trade and transport, the spread of alien species is increasing dramatically. Some alien species become ecologically harmful by threatening native biota. This can lead to irreversible changes in local biodiversity and ecosystem functioning, and, ultimately, to biotic homogenisation. We risk-assessed all alien plants, animals, fungi and algae, within certain delimitations, that are known to reproduce in Norway. Mainland Norway and the Arctic archipelago of Svalbard plus Jan Mayen were treated as separate assessment areas. "Serrano" ham is a typical pork product from the Mediterranean area, highly valued for its flavour. To make Serrano ham, pork undergoes a salting and a subsequent fermentation process known as curing. Certain pigs used for meat production are an important source of Toxoplasma gondii infection in humans. Actualmente, la Universitat de València utiliza un Sistema de Gestión del Aprendizaje (en ingles Learning Management System LMS), como apoyo al proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje. Este LMS incluye una herramienta que permite a los profesores crear exámenes online. Sin embargo, la interfaz de usuario que provee la plataforma no presenta un entorno amigable. Para mejorar la usabilidad del modulo, hemos desarrollado un programa informático que simplifica el proceso. Partiendo de un programa open source denominado QAED, desarrollado en la Universitat Pompeu Fabra, lo hemos extendido para permitir a los profesores crear exámenes offline. Después, pueden importarse fácilmente al Aula Virtual.
Debonding failure mechanisms in prestressed CFRP/epoxy/concrete connections

Abstract This paper presents an investigation on the failure mode in prestress force-release tests of CFRP strips bonded to concrete substrates. Background of the study is the gradient anchorage technique. Firstly, experimental test series are presented. It is shown that considerable differences in failure mechanisms between lap-shear and the before mentioned release tests exist. The study reveals a strong Mode I-influence in the debonding process, compared to a Mode II for lap-shear tests. Secondly, FE simulations with a commercially available software are introduced. It is demonstrated that delamination in a force-release test occurs by a mixed-mode failure over the strip width.

A new thermal process for the inactivation of microorganisms in beverages has been studied and is presented in this paper. The treatment, not yet studied in the scientific literature, mainly consists of a thermal shock characterized by temperature increases up to 30°C/s, with final temperatures up to 65°C. The purpose of this study was to demonstrate the ability of a new method to discriminate between benign and malignant tissue. Tissue samples from three patients with bladder tumours and one patient with bladder diverticula have been examined by histophotometry. This method, based on the correlation of nuclear volume and nucleic acid contents per cell uses thick formalin fixed samples. The results are obtained by measurements averaging more than one hundred thousand cells per sample. This study deals with a simple strategy to pinpoint potential unknown compounds in full scan mass spectrometry (MS) experiments. Forty samples of apples and pears intended for human consumption were analyzed by ultra-high performance liquid chromatography quadrupole-time-of-flight (UPLC–QqTOF-MS), after extraction of the possible contaminants by rinsing the peel of the fruit with ethyl acetate. The peaks were visually recognized in the total ion chromatogram (TIC).
