Cyclocondensation reactions of the pyrazol-5-amine 1 and the 1-aryl-3-phenyl-2-propen-1-ones 2a-d yield the 6,7-dihydropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidines 7a-d. Whereas 7a-c can be isolated in pure state, 7d is subjected to a spontaneous oxidation.

Abstract Dansylation of amines (primaries and secondaries) using C18 solid-phase supports is described. The time of analysis and the handing sample have been markedly improved with respect to those required for solution dansylation. The dansylated amine derivates were injected onto the liquid chromatography system and fluorescence detected. The sensitivity and selectivity is better than the other dansylation procedures described in the literature and also better than other derivatization reagents such 1,2-napthoquinone 4-sulfonate (NQS) or 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl chloride (3,5-DNB). Abstract The objective of this paper is to provide information about solid phase extraction (SPE) as an alternative to liquid–liquid extraction of amines from several matrices. Different sorbents ranging from non-polar phases, such as C 18 silica to more polar such as cyanopropylsilica (CN) have been tested for analysis of aliphatic amines as monoamines, diamines and polyamines. Oligo(phenylenevinylene)s with reactive side chains: amine- and amide-bound alkoxysilanes

Strongly luminescent oligo(phenylenevinylene) chromophores with monodisperse chain lengths are connected via short spacers containing a secondary amine or amide with di- and tri-ethoxysilane groups. The alkoxysilanes can be hydrolysed and condensed to cyclic and linear oligomers with high film forming capability and are also interesting functional units for hybrid materials for electro-optical applications. The luminescence properties in the solid state are influenced by hydrogen bonding of the amides resulting in strong hypsochromic shifts. The synthesis of the title compounds, their oligomerisation and the electronic spectra in the solution and solid state are presented.
Synthesis of large-pore ordered mesoporous silicas containing aminopropyl groups

Ordered mesoporous silicas with large-pore diameters incorporating aminopropyl groups in variable quantity have been synthesized via the co-condensation of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) and 3-tert-butyloxycarbonylaminopropyltriethoxysilane templated with nonionic surfactant P123 under acidic conditions. The deprotection of amino groups was then quantitatively achieved either by thermal treatment or acid hydrolysis followed by Et3N treatment, both routes leading to exactly the same materials. We showed that the free amino centers are fully accessible, by using the condensation of the amine function with benzaldehyde.
Self-assembly in surfactant-based liquid mixtures: Octanoic acid/Bis(2-ethylhexyl)amine systems

Abstract The physico-chemical properties of Bis(2-ethylhexyl)amine (BEEA) plus octanoic acid (OA) mixtures have been investigated by IR, SAXS, WAXS, viscosimetry, and AC complex impedance spectroscopy in the whole composition range. Mainly driven by proton transfer from the acidic OA to the basic BEEA, the formation of stoichiometrically well-defined adducts takes place in the mixtures. This causes the slowing down of molecular dynamics and the increase in charge carrier number density. Interestingly, while the pure components possess no significant conductivity (about 10−12 S cm−1 at 25 °C), their mixtures show a composition-dependent enhanced conductivity (up to about 10−5 S cm−1), i.e., …

International audience; New Fe(II) coordination polymeric neutral chains of formula [Fe(aqin)2(μ2-M(CN)4)] (M = NiII (1) and PtII (2)) (aqin = Quinolin-8-amine) have been synthesized and characterized by infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and magnetic measurements. The crystal structure determinations of 1–2 reveal in both cases a one-dimensional structure in which the planar [M(CN)4]2– (M = NiII (1) and PtII (2)) anion acts as a μ2-bridging ligand, and the two aqin molecules as chelating coligands. Examination of the intermolecular contacts in the two compounds reveals that the main contacts are ascribed to hydrogen bonding interactions involving the amine groups of the aqin chelati…
Zn(II)-alloferon complexes - Similar sequence, different coordination modes, no antibacterial activity.

Often, in the search for a highly defined scientific phenomenon, a different one becomes apparent. This was also the case of this work, in the scope of which we planned to search for metal-enhanced, novel antibacterial/ antifungal compounds. Instead, we denied the existence of such and revealed the details of the bioinorganic chemistry of Zn(II)-alloferon complexes. Zinc(II) complexes of alloferon 1 and 2, ligands with a sequential difference of one amino acid only, show a substantially different coordination pattern at physiological pH. In the case of Zn(II)-alloferon 1 species, a histamine-like binding mode is observed (N-terminal amine and imidazole of His-1) and the coordination sphere …

In the crystal structure of the title compound, C22H19FN4, the quinoxaline system makes dihedral angles of 32.07 (13) and 69.64 (13)° with the 4-fluorophenyl and pyridine rings, respectively. The 4-fluorophenyl ring makes a dihedral angle of 71.77 (16)° with the pyridine ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular N—H...N hydrogen bonding.
Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of a new cyanide-bridged mixed-valence copper(I)/copper(II) clathrate

A unique cyanide-bridge mixed-valence CuI/CuII clathrate of formula [CuI2(CN)3][{CuII(tren)}2(μ-CN)](CF3SO3)2 [tren = tris(2-aminoethyl)amine] containing cyanide-bridged [{CuII(tren)}2(μ-CN)]3 + binuclear cations stacked between anionic honeycomb layered copper(I) cyanide networks, was synthesized and structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility studies showed that the cyanide bridge mediates a strong antiferromagnetic interaction between the copper(II) centers (J = − 160 cm− 1, the spin Hamiltonian being defined as H = − JSA⋅SB).
