CSRZ-ASK and DPSK 40 Gb/s All-Raman WDM Transmission Based on UltraWave Fiber

2006

In this paper, we report a complete experimental and numerical analysis of 40 Gb/s WDM ultra long-haul (ULH) transmission using CSRZ-DPSK and CSRZ-ASK modulation formats on UltraWavetrade fiber spans. Experimental results compare well with full numerical simulations

Input pulse optimization in wavelength-division-multiplexed soliton transmissions

1997

Abstract Amplitudes of input pulses in different channels of wavelength-division-multiplexed soliton transmissions should be adjusted according to their wavelength shift. The optimal distribution of input amplitudes maintains the initial time width and minimizes the radiations. Numerical simulations indicate that using this simple method, WDM transmission capacities of 80 Gbit/s over transoceanic distances may be possible in dispersion-managed fiber links without introducing any in-line soliton controls.

The loop-tree duality at work

2014

We review the recent developments of the loop-tree duality method, focussing our discussion on analysing the singular behaviour of the loop integrand of the dual representation of one-loop integrals and scattering amplitudes. We show that within the loop-tree duality method there is a partial cancellation of singularities at the integrand level among the different components of the corresponding dual representation. The remaining threshold and infrared singularities are restricted to a finite region of the loop momentum space, which is of the size of the external momenta and can be mapped to the phase-space of real corrections to cancel the soft and collinear divergences.

Diffusion effects in a nonlinear electrical lattice

1998

International audience; We consider a nonlinear electrical network modeling the generalized Nagumo equation. Focusing on the particular case where the initial load of the lattice consists in the superimposition of a coherent information weakly varying in space and a perturbation of small amplitude, we show that the perturbation can be eliminated quickly, almost without disturbing the information.

Spatial and spectral nonlinear shaping of multimode waves

2016

We demonstrate a novel nonlinear dynamics of multimode fibers that reshapes their spectral and spatial beam profiles, based on spatiotemporal modulation instability. Sidebands ranging from the visible to the near-infrared are carried by one and the same spatial bell-shaped profile.

Experimental evidence of the real multimode nature of geometric parametric instability

2020

We show experimentally that geometric parametric instability in graded-index multimode fibers is composed by several multimode spectral components. The experimental observation is obtained by using a new 3D technique of high-resolution spatial and spectral analysis.

All-optical fiber-based amplitude jitter magnifier

2010

International audience; We describe the concept of an all-fibered device that enables the optical magnification of the amplitude jitter of low-fluctuation pulse trains, facilitating the measurement of the statistical properties by usual photodiodes and electronic equipments. Taking advantage of a highly nonlinear fiber with anomalous dispersion followed by central optical bandpass filtering, we experimentally demonstrate an amplification of small-scale fluctuations by a factor 10.

All-Fibered High-Quality 20-GHz and 40-GHz Picosecond Pulse Generator

2011

International audience; In this work, we investigate the generation of 20 and 40 GHz pulse trains by nonlinear compression of an initial beating in a cavity-less optical-fiber-based configuration. High temporal stability is obtained by generating the sinusoidal beating by means of an intensity modulator driven by an external clock. The residual timing jitter induced by the RF phase modulation is then reduced by managing the cumulated dispersion of the compression line whereas complete polarization stabilization is obtained thanks to a modified setup including a Faraday rotator mirror. Finally a high-quality 160 Gbit/s signal is generated from our low duty-cycle 40 GHz pulse source thanks to…

Real-time measurements of spontaneous breathers and rogue wave events in optical fibre modulation instability

2016

Modulation instability is a fundamental process of nonlinear science, leading to the unstable breakup of a constant amplitude solution of a physical system. There has been particular interest in studying modulation instability in the cubic nonlinear Schrödinger equation, a generic model for a host of nonlinear systems including superfluids, fibre optics, plasmas and Bose–Einstein condensates. Modulation instability is also a significant area of study in the context of understanding the emergence of high amplitude events that satisfy rogue wave statistical criteria. Here, exploiting advances in ultrafast optical metrology, we perform real-time measurements in an optical fibre system of the u…

Scaling the abruptly autofocusing beams in the direct-space

2017

International audience; We propose a simple technique to scale the abruptly autofocusing beams in the direct space by introducing a scaling factor in the phase. Analytical formulas are deduced based on optical caustics, explicitly revealing how the scaling factor controls location, peak intensity, and size of the focal spot. We demonstrate that the multiplication of a scaling factor on the phase is equivalent to the axial-scaling transformation under the paraxial approximation. Further numerical and experimental results confirm theoretical predictions. In addition, amplitude modulation using phase-only holograms is used to maintain the peak intensity level of the focal spots.
