Wind tunnel testing, numerical analyses and shape optimization of a vertical axis wind turbine

In this work the aerodynamic efficiency of a small commercial vertical axis wind turbine is investigated experimentally and numerically. The turbine is a Darrieus type with three vertical airfoil blades having helical twist of 78 degrees, height 1.45m and diameter of 1.45m. The airfoils have a chord of 222 mm and a thickness of 35 mm. The experimental studies were made in a wind tunnel where a hot-wire anemometer was used to measure the wind speed. The power curves of the turbine were extracted using a generator connected with an inverter able to vary the resistant moment applied to the turbine and to measure its resulting angular speed. L’art. 32 della legge n. 183/2010 ha sollevato molteplici questioni applicative legate alla sua infelice formulazione. Il saggio analizza il controverso perimetro applicativo del comma 4, lett. c) e d), inerenti rispettivamente la cessione del contratto di lavoro avvenuta ai sensi dell’art. 2112 c.c. e i casi in cui si chieda la costituzione o l’accertamento di un rapporto di lavoro in capo a un soggetto diverso dal titolare del contratto. L’Autore fornisce le coordinate per una corretta interpretazione, opportunamente restrittiva, delle previsioni decadenziali alla luce del dato letterale e del diritto dell’Unione europea.

Il contributo analizza il reato di intermediazione illecita e sfruttamento lavorativo, offrendo un’analisi comparata con il sistema repressivo tedesco. Lo studio si sofferma, in particolare, sui limiti di legittimazione del diritto penale nella punizione dei fatti di “caporalato”, nel tentativo di scongiurare che l’intervento repressivo nelle dinamiche economiche e contrattuali, di natura sinallagmatica, possa assumere una portata tale da porsi in contrasto con il canone della sussidiarietà. Settore IUS/17 - Diritto PenaleThe paper analyses the offence of unlawful work intermediation and exploitation offering a comparative analysis with the German punitive system. The study focuses in particular on the limits of legitimacy of criminal law in the punishment of gangmaster acts in the attempt to avoid that the punitive intervention in economic and contractual dynamics of a mutual nature could be so intrusive to be in contrast with the principle of subsidiarity. To this end the author suggests an interpretative perspective that centres the penal disvalue of the offence under article 603-bis of the criminal code on the harm to fundamental workers’ rights – as linked to articles 4 35 and 36 of the Italian Constitutions – which work as a limit to entrepreneurial freedom. To be sure the indexes of exploitation listed by the criminalising norm seem to echo those fundamental human rights attributed to a person as a worker: those very same rights that – when harmed in their minimal and therefore intangible dimension – legitimise the intervention of the ius terribile. The article also stresses the protection of the job market: in this sense the offence – even if situated within the Kernstrafrecht – represents a new paradigm of the institutional response within the framework of the contemporary relationships between law and economics.

Questo lavoro analizza le valenze paradigmatiche assunte dalla sua figura nella memoria civica siracusana e nella produzione storiografica; inoltre ricostruisce le dinamiche politiche che hanno spinto i principali tiranni siracusani (da Dionisio I a Ierone II) a stabilire un confronto con Gelone. This work analyses the paradigmatic value taken on by his figure in the civic memory of the people of Syracuse and in historiographic production. It also reconstructs the political dynamics which pushed the principal tyrants of Syracuse (from Dionysius I to Hiero II) to establish comparisons with Gelon. His exemplum was used to legitimate political actions and commitment against the Carthaginianparticular attention was also given to the Library of History of Diodorus Siculus and the role that the figure of Dinomenid assumes in itregarding these aspects the work of this author seems to have sometimes the signs of a personal interpretation of history: one that cannot always be explained in relation to the use of the two principal sources for Western history Timaeus and Philistos.

Il tarantismo in Sicilia

Il testo prende in esame il complesso di materiali editi e inediti (fonti storiche e archivistiche, documenti musicali, testimonianze etnografiche) che attestano la presenza del tarantismo in Sicilia dalla metà del Seicento alla fine dell’Ottocento. Il caso siciliano viene quindi inquadrato nell’ambito dell’ampia letteratura che ruota intorno al fenomeno, a partire dal classico studio di Ernesto De Martino fino al dibattito sull’interpretazione del fenomeno fra i poli dell’esorcismo e della possessione, dovuto soprattutto all’etnomusicologo francese Gilber Rouget. Settore L-ART/08 - EtnomusicologiaThe text examines published and unpublished materials – such as historical and ethnographic sources archive records and musical documents – which testify the presence of tarantism in Sicily from mid-17th century to the end of the 19th. The Sicilian case is then considered in a wider context of contributions on the theme starting from the ‘classic’ De Martino’work up to the debate on the interpretation of the phenomenon between the poles of exorcism and possession chiefly rased by French ethnomusicologist Gilbert Rouget. The analyses is therefore expanded to the tradition of snakes bites healers (the ciaràuli) which shares with tarantism the spider symbolism and to certain kinds of religious processions characterised by frantic ‘dances’ which suggest elements of functional continuity with tarantism musical-choreutic therapy.

The Reciprocal Influences among Motivation, Personality Traits, and Game Habits for Playing Pokémon GO

This article reports a study exploring motivations of Pokémon Game use, individual differences related to personality traits, and game habits. First, it analyzed Pokémon GO motivations through exploratory factor analysis (EFA) by administering online the Pokémon GO Motivational Scale to a group of Italian gamers (N = 560). Successively, a Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was conducted testing three factorial models of Pokémon Game motivations on a selected random sample (N = 310). Design and analysis of discrete choice experiments for models with response time

Settore SECS-S/02 - Statistica Per La Ricerca Sperimentale E TecnologicaA sector of conjoint analysis (experimental design in marketing research) is made of the so called choice experiments. In choice experiments respondents undergo a questionnaire which is nowadays mostly submitted through the internet. The questionnaire proposes to the respondent a sequence of choice sets each one including two or more profiles being a profile a specific combination of attribute levels. The respondent selects the preferred profile for each choice set. Responses given by a sample of respondents are analysed through suitable methods aimed to eventually find the best combination of attribute levels. One method of analysis adopts the Multinomial Logit (MLN) model. In this article the authors show the results of the MLN analysis compared with another model of analysis which uses an additional response which can be easily recorded by electronically submitted questionnaires. In practice modern survey platforms like “Qualtrics” (the one used for this work) can record the so called “response latency” i.e. the time taken by the respondent to make the choice and select the most preferred profile in the choice set. Thanks to a response latency model further refined in this work it is possible to deduce the relative weight of importance of the profiles for each choice set and respondent. This type of response can be used in place of the dichotomous choice variable in the MLN model. The two models and methods of analysis are deeply compared and it is critically discussed when it is better to use one or the other method. As a result a more reliable estimate of the optimal profile comes up implying lower risks for new investments and marketing decisions.

The defect localization step of this process is the critical one. The aim of this thesis is to investigate the shape change in hippocampus due to the atrophy in Alzheimer’s disease (AD). To this end, specific algorithms and methodologies were developed to segment the hippocampus from structural magnetic resonance (MR) images and model variations in its shape. We use a multi-atlas based segmentation propagation approach for the segmentation of hippocampus which has been shown to obtain accurate parcellation of brain structures.
