Metal-free, Cu(II)- or Zn(II) tetrakis [4-(2,4-bis-(1,1-dimethylpropyl)phenoxy)]phthalocyanines loaded over TiO2 (anatase) proved to be active in the photoreduction of CO2 to formic acid (HCO2H) in water under UV-vis light. CuPc/TiO2 is catalyst of choice, allowing to reach a maximum yield of HCO2H, unequalled by any other similar catalytic systems. Because of their low environmental impact, low potential cost, and efficient power conversion, these multipurpose materials show promise in the setup of sustainable methods for CO2 valorization. Abstract The influence of deposited silver upon the photocatalytic activity of titania in the rutile and anatase allotropic forms has been studied in three different reactions. The common feature found for these three reactions was an electron transfer from illuminated TiO 2 to silver particles. In the first reaction (platinum photodeposition). it has been shown that the initial presence of metallic silver orientates the localization of subsequent Pt photodeposits with, in particular, a 100% selectivity to Pt deposition on top of silver particles or agglomerates previously deposited on anatase. A structural investigation of titanium dioxide photocatalysts

Abstract A study of the structure and the morphology of a titanium dioxide photocatalyst (Degussa P25) reveals multiphasic material consisting of an amorphous state, together with the crystalline phases anatase and rutile in the approximate proportions 80 20 . Transmission electron microscopy provides evidence that some individual particles are a mixture of the amorphous state with either the anatase phase or with the rutile phase, and that some particles, which are mostly anatase, are covered by a thin overlayer of rutile which manifests its presence by the appearance of Moire fringes. Clean analytical method for the determination of propoxur

Abstract A method has been developed for the determination of propoxur, a carbamate pesticide, by means of its reaction with p-aminophenol (PAP). The method involves the reaction, in the presence of KIO4, between the quinoneimine form of PAP and the deprotonated form of 2-isopropoxyphenol, obtained by the alkaline hydrolysis of propoxur, to provide an indophenol dye which absorbs at 600 nm. Alkaline treatment as a means to boost the activity of TiO(2)in selective photocatalytic processes

In this work, the activity enhancement of TiO(2)photocatalysts by alkaline treatment has been investigated. Commercial (BDH, U.K., anatase phase) TiO(2)samples, treated in alkaline solutions of NaOH at different concentrations and temperatures, were tested for the photocatalytic partial oxidation of 3-pyridinemethanol in water under UVA irradiation to form vitamin B-3. Photocatalyst characterization has been carried out by XRD, BET, TEM, TGA, photoluminescence, FTIR, Raman, DRS, EPR and photocurrent measurements. Preparation and characterization of Al2O3 supported TiO2 catalysts employed for 4-nitrophenol photodegradation in aqueous medium

Abstract In this paper the preparation and some bulk and surface characterizations of set of Al2O3 supported TiO2 photocatalysts are reported. The powders were home prepared by a wet impregnation method using titanium (IV) isopropylate. The impregnation was followed by thermal treatments and this procedure was repeated several times in order to obtain samples with different amounts of TiO2. Photocatalytic degradation of carbaryl in aqueous TiO2 suspensions containing surfactants

The effect of ionic and non-ionic aliphatic surfactants on the photocatalytic degradation of Carbaryl (1-naphtyl-N-methylcarbamate) in aqueous solutions containing suspended TiO2 (anatase) particles, under irradiation with simulated AM1 solar light, was investigated. A neat inhibitory effect on the degradation rate was observed, depending on the nature of the surfactant and on the initial pH of the solution. The decay profiles of the primary process corresponded to the usual pseudo-first order kinetics for surfactant concentrations below the critical micellar concentration range, whereas a more complicate behaviour was observed in the presence of micellar aggregates. Hybrid TiO2 @ phthalocyanine catalysts in photooxidation of 4-nitrophenol: Effect of the matrix and sensitizer type

Abstract Microcrystalline and nanocrystalline anatase (TiO2) based hybrid photocatalysts including selected phthalocyanine sensitizers were explored in photooxidation of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) in water. Composites obtained with the homemade pure nano-anatase displayed a very poor catalytic performance compared to the other ones prepared from the commercial Tioxide-Huntsman (micro) and Evonik P25 (nano) products.
