Nuova edizione critica commentata di un carme esametrico conservato su lamina di Selinunte del V sec. a. C., attualmente al Museo Getty (Malibu). Si propone di riconoscere nel testo in questione un peana pitagorico, forma letteraria testimoniata da alcune fonti antiche, ma di cui finora non si aveva documentazione diretta.

The present volume contains selected papers from the international conference on “The submerged syntax between Late Antiquity and the Modern Age. Sources, models, and interpretative strategies”, that took place in Palermo, 28-29 November 2019, hosted by the Department of Humanities at the University of Palermo. The conference was organized under the umbrella of a project of national relevance funded by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research, named “Parts of speech meet rhetorics: searching for syntax in the continuity between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age” (PRIN 20172F2FEZ, March 2017).

Il contributo ripercorre le fasi di ricerca finalizzate allo studio del Teatro greco romano e dell'Odèon di Catania, alla caratterizzazione della forme di degradazione delle testimonianze archeologiche ed alla definizione di un progetto di conservazione integrata da nuovi innesti architettonici e da un programma di rifunzionalizzazione dell'intero complesso. The contribution traces the research phases aimed at the study of the Greek-Roman Theater and the Odèon of Catania, at the characterization of the forms of degradation of the archaeological remains, and at the definition of a conservation project integrated by new architectures and by a re-functionalization program of the whole complex.

AbstractThe chapter summarizes the roles and tasks of ritual experts and participants within the Hebrew Bible and its cultural environment. The first part reflects on the responsibilities of the kings, the priests, and the priestesses within the ancient Near East (Mesopotamia, Mari, Hittite Anatolia) and ancient Egypt. Then the chapter turns to the concepts of the Hebrew Bible. The second part demonstrates how the priests and Levites take care for the rituals, the sacrifices, purity, teaching, and administration. MORPHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF ANCIENT GRAPE SEEDS FROM A SINK IN THE MIDDLE-AGE TOWN OF PALERMO

The archaeological excavations in Piazza della Vittoria, in the Roman-Middle Age town of Palermo (Sicily) put in light a sink 3.20 m deep and 1 square m. large, partially filled by thin organic sediments. Grape seeds (grape-stones), fish scales and few vertebrate bones have been found in specific strata sealed under a stratum chronologically attributed to Islamic Middle-Age period (a post-quem limit). The finding of well preserved grape seeds is peculiar and their study opens the opportunity to improve the actual knowledge about evolution, cultivation, use and trade of Vitis L. in the Mediterranean area.
