Spray nozzle characterization using high speed imaging techniques

International audience; Spray characteristics play an important role in the application accuracy and efficiency of plant protection products. In this study, the spray angles, liquid sheet lengths and spray shapes of five hydraulic spray nozzles (Albuz ATR orange, Albuz ATR red, TeeJet XR 110 01, TeeJet XR 110 04 and TeeJet AI 110 04) were measured using a developed high speed imaging system. Results were compared with the results of existing measuring techniques using a flow rate test bench, a horizontal patternator and a Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer (PDPA) laser.

Aims. Radiation exposure is a limiting factor for percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) of chronic total coronary occlusion (CTO) lesions. This study was designed to analyze changes in patient radiation dose for CTO-PCI and parameters associated with radiation dose. Methods and Results. We analyzed a cohort of 12,136 procedures performed by 23 operators between 2012 and 2017 from the European Registry of CTO-PCI. Radiation exposure was recorded as air kerma (AK) and dose area product (DAP). A dose rate index (DRI) was calculated as AK per fluoroscopy time to normalize for individual differences in fluoroscopy time. The relationship between physiology and temperature has a large influence on population-level responses to climate change. In natural settings, direct thermal effects on metabolism may be exaggerated or offset by behavioural responses influencing individual energy balance. Drawing on a newly developed proxy, we provide the first estimates of the thermal performance curve of field metabolism in a wild fish. We investigate the thermal sensitivity of field metabolic rate in two sympatric, genetically distinct ecotypes of Atlantic cod from the Skagerrak coast of southern Norway. Spectral analysis of the dipping LMXB system XB 1916-053

Context: XB 1916-053 is a low mass X-ray binary system (LMXB) hosting a neutron star (NS) and showing periodic dips. The spectrum of the persistent emission was modeled with a blackbody component having a temperature between 1.31 and 1.67 keV and with a Comptonization component with an electron temperature of 9.4 keV and a photon index $\Gamma$ between 2.5 and 2.9. The presence of absorption features associated with highly ionized elements suggested the presence of partially ionized plasma in the system.
