Datortomogrāfijas attēlu kvalitātes kritēriju izvērtējums aknu hemangiomas diagnostikā
2020
Baklaura darba tēma „Datortomogrāfijas attēlu kvalitātes kritēriju izvērtējums aknu hemangiomu diagnostikā”. Tēmas aktualitāti nosaka tas, ka aknu hemangomas ir viens no biežāk sastopamajiem labdabīgajiem veidojumiem aknās, kurus iespējams diagnosticēt ar datortomogrāfijas palīdzību. Hemangiomas sastāda ap 20% no visiem jaunveidojumiem aknās.
Imaging of Hepatic Focal Nodular Hyperplasia: Pictorial Review and Diagnostic Strategy
2016
Focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) is the second most common benign solid liver lesion after hemangioma, occurring more frequently in young women. The prime differential diagnoses include hepatocellular adenoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and hypervascular metastasis. As the management of FNH is typically conservative, imaging plays a key role in diagnostic pathway, and misdiagnosis may have a major clinical effect. In this article, we describe the ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging features of FNH, underlining the importance of typical radiological features that allow a specific noninvasive diagnosis. We present a large spectrum of a typical imaging findings that F…
Contact and contactless diffuse reflectance spectroscopy: potential for recovery monitoring of vascular lesions after intense pulsed light treatment.
2011
Optical fiber contact probe diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and remote multispectral imaging methods in the spectral range of 400 to 1100 nm were used for skin vascular malformation assessment and recovery tracing after treatment by intense pulsed light. The results confirmed that oxy-hemoglobin relative changes and the optical density difference between lesion and healthy skin in the spectral region 500 to 600 nm may be successfully used for objective appraisal of the therapy effect. Color redness parameter a* = 2 is suggested as a diagnostic border to distinguish healthy skin and vascular lesions, and as the indicator of phototreatment efficiency. Valuable diagnostic information on large…
Diode laser treatment of a large oral hemangioma
2014
Background. Several options can be taken into account to treat hemangiomas; the most considered is the surgical excision, although total removal is not always possible, especially for large lesions, since vital structures can be involved. Another treatment includes the diode laser therapy. Objectives. The aim of this study was to report a clinical case of micro-invasive treatment of a large oral hemangioma in the buccal mucosa using a 900 nm diode laser. Case report. A 49-year-old female patient was referred to our sector of oral medicine reporting difficult chewing, swelling, and occasionally bleeding, from a congenital neoformation. Clinical examination revealed a dark blue and multiglobu…

FOCAL LIVER LESIONS: CONTRAST-ENHANCED ULTRASOUND
2008
Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) represents a significant breakthrough in sonography and it is being increasingly used for evaluation of focal liver lesions (FLLs). The unique feature of CEUS of non-invasively assessing in real time liver perfusion throughout the vascular phase has led to a dramatic improvement in diagnostic accuracy of US in either detection and characterization of FLLs, as well as in the guidance and evaluation of response of therapeutic procedures. Currently, CEUS is included as a part of the suggested diagnostic work-up of FLLs, resulting in a better patient management and cost-effective therapy delivering. After a brief description of the basis of different CEUS tec…

Automatic Monitoring System for the Evolution of the Hemangiomas
2019
In this paper we describe an automatic monitoring system for the evolution of infantile hemangiomas using a fuzzy logic system based on two parameters: area and redness. To follow the evolution, we have used for each subject pairs of images at different moments of time. The starting points of the algorithm are the rectangular regions of interest (ROI), manually selected for each of the two images, and automatically segmented using Otsu’s method in combination with different preprocessing methods. Using the results of segmentation, we could compute the evolution of the area and the evolution of the redness of hemangioma. These two parameters were used as input for the fuzzy logic system, obt…
Comparison of the Enhancement Pattern of Hepatic Hemangioma on Magnetic Resonance Imaging Performed With Gd-EOB-DTPA Versus Gd-BOPTA
2019
Abstract Purpose To compare magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings with gadoxetic acid and gadobenate dimeglumine for the diagnosis of hepatic hemangiomas. Materials and Methods In this retrospective study, we included 26 hemangiomas (mean size was 14 mm ± 10 mm) in 19 patients (mean age 60 ± 14 years) scanned with both gadobenate dimeglumine MRI and gadoxetic acid MRI. For each patient, we collected multiple lesion variables including location, number, size and enhancement pattern on arterial, portal venous, 3-minute and hepatobiliary phases with both gadoxetic acid and gadobenate dimeglumine. The enhancement pattern with the two contrast agents was then compared. Results The typical en…
Testicular tumors in childhood: a national report
1993
The authors report preliminary data of an Italian multicentric, retrospective study of primary testicular tumors (PTT) in childhood involving 20 Italian departments of pediatric surgery. Forty cases of PTT were observed during a 10-year period (1977–1987), with yolk-sac tumors being the most frequent (45%). Most testicular tumors were first perceived as a unilateral testicular mass. Scrotal ultrasonography represents the main diagnostic investigation, together with serum marker levels.
