La régulation de l'éducation en France et dans les pays anglo-saxons. Une comparaison

2004

The autonomy of the schools increased in most educational systems for the last twenty years. So, educational systems had to implement regulation policies in order to orient the action of the agents towards the nation's aims. While England and the United States implemented a regulation by results (incentives linked to school's or teacher's results), France relies on a regulation by process (incentives to implement ‘pedagogical forms' which are supposed to be relevant). These two policies are described, then they are confronted with regard to their internal coherence and tensions, with in mind the question of the French model being a viable one, able to offer an option to the anglo-saxon mode…

Amnésie collective et réécritures de l'histoire dans les deux tétralogies historiques de Shakespeare

2015

The genre of the history play was in its heyday in England between the 1580s and the 1610s. The transition from the concept of realm to those of state and nation took place at the same time, which could suggest that the history play should be seen as a patriotic genre. Yet, a close reading of both of Shakespeare’s historical tetralogies shows that things are far more complex. The plays are not so much a reflection of history as a reflection on history. The historical events they depict are thwarted, rewritten and blended with fiction in order to provide a reflection on the games of politics and comments on the contemporary situation as well as the process of writing history itself.

"With his Classics in mind": la Méditerranée frostienne ou l'appel des muses antiques

2018

International audience; This article intends to show the network of influences, borrowings and intertextual references in Robert Frost's long poems-their rewriting of ancient models, forms and myths and their Americanization of the pastoral genre. Our exploration of the Frostian fascination for the ancient Mediterranean world will be based on the poet's 1961 trip to Israel and Greece and his reappropriation of such legacy.

: Advising Pupils about School Options and Careers in England

2005

In England, concern about efficiency and good access to jobs, careers advice has been through successive reforms such as privatizing the public networks of careers advice, then in 2001, creating outside schools a service called Connexions. Based on partnership and playing the role of a personal advisor to young people, it offers to any of them a set of services and advice. However the problem is that not all young people make use of it and many of the partners do not share information. Will school play a role again in advising young people on their careers?
