ESR of Nd3+ in BaTiO3
1990
Towards a converged barrier height for the entrance channel transition state of the N(2D)+CH4 reaction and its implication for the chemistry in Titan…
2011
Abstract The N( 2 D) + CH 4 reaction appears to be a key reaction for the chemistry of Titan’s atmosphere, opening the door to nitrile formation as recently observed by the Cassini–Huygens mission. Faced to the controversy concerning the existence or not of a potential barrier for this reaction, we have carried out accurate ab initio calculations by means of multi-state multi-reference configuration interaction (MS-MR-SDCI) method. These calculations have been partially corrected for the size-consistency errors (SCE) by Davidson, Pople or AQCC corrections. We suggest a barrier height of 3.86 ± 0.84 kJ/mol, including ZPE, for the entrance transition state, in good agreement with the experime…
Orientation-Dependent Handedness of Chiral Plasmons on Nanosphere Dimers: How to Turn a Right Hand into a Left Hand
2016
Optical activity, which is used as a discriminator of chiral enantiomers, is demonstrated to be orientation dependent on individual, and nominally achiral, plasmonic nanosphere dimers. Through measurements of their giant Raman optical activity, we demonstrate that L/R-handed enantiomers can be continuously turned into their R/L-handed mirror images without passing through an achiral state. The primitive uniaxial multipolar response, with demonstrable broken parity and time reversal symmetry, reproduces the observations as resonant Raman scattering on plasmons that carry angular momentum. The analysis underscores that chirality does not have a quantitative continuous measure and recognizes t…
Taking a triangular perspective: coparenting and Gestalt therapy
2015
The aim of this article is to go beyond dyadic observational units to consider the parent-child relationship starting from a primary triad formed by parents and the child. This triad could be analyzed as an interactive matrix within the many possible combinations of new families (e.g. stepfamilies, childfree and LAT couples). In Gestalt therapy, the extension of this framework may promote an effective connection between research and clinical work: new units of observation could be processed through contact boundaries between parents with their children, as well as other family members
The nasus gland: A new gland in soldiers of Angularitermes (Termitidae, Nasutitermitinae)
2015
Termites have developed many exocrine glands, generally dedicated to defence or communication. Although a few of these glands occur in all termite species, or represent synapomorphies of larger clades, others are morphological innovations of a single species, or a few related species. Here, we describe the nasus gland, a new gland occurring at the base of the nasus of Angularitermes soldiers. The nasus gland is composed of class 1, 2, and 3 secretory cells, a rare combination that is only shared by the sternal and tergal glands of some termites and cockroaches. The ultrastructural observations suggest that the secretion is produced by class 2 and 3 secretory cells, and released mostly by cl…
Deducing the stage-discharge relationship for contracted weirs by the outflow theory of Malcherek
2019
The aim of this paper was the deduction of a new stage-discharge relationship for a contracted weir, having a crest length less than the channel width, by using the Malcherek’s outflow theory. The average outflow velocity over the rectangular contracted weir was expressed in terms of the head over weir, the momentum correction coefficient and the ratio between the crest length and the channel width. This theoretically deduced stage-discharge formula was calibrated by measurements carried out for values of the ratio between the crest length and the channel width ranging from 0.3125 to 0.9375. In particular, a relationship to estimate the momentum correction coefficient for contracted weirs w…
A Dataset of Annotated Omnidirectional Videos for Distancing Applications
2021
Omnidirectional (or 360°) cameras are acquisition devices that, in the next few years, could have a big impact on video surveillance applications, research, and industry, as they can record a spherical view of a whole environment from every perspective. This paper presents two new contributions to the research community: the CVIP360 dataset, an annotated dataset of 360° videos for distancing applications, and a new method to estimate the distances of objects in a scene from a single 360° image. The CVIP360 dataset includes 16 videos acquired outdoors and indoors, annotated by adding information about the pedestrians in the scene (bounding boxes) and the distances to the camera of some point…
Effect of a cyanobacterial diet on the competition between rotifers: a case study in Lake Albufera of Valencia, Spain
2019
Study of the anisotropy of thermal infrared emissivity of inorganic bare soils at different moisture levels
2013
