The sequential doxorubicin → CMF (CMF = cyclophosphamide, methotrexate, fluorouracil) regimen has never been compared to CMF in a randomised trial. The role of adding goserelin and tamoxifen after chemotherapy is unclear. The ABCB1 gene encodes for P-glycoprotein (P-gp), an efflux pump for a variety of xenobiotics. The role of ABCB1 polymorphisms in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) outcomes of standard chemotherapy (cytarabine plus anthracyclines) remains controversial. A systematic search was made of studies evaluating the association between ABCB1 polymorphisms 1236C>T, 2677G>T/A and 3435C>T and effectiveness variables. PML expression in soft tissue sarcoma: Prognostic and predictive value in alkylating agents/antracycline-based first line therapy

Soft tissue sarcomas are aggressive tumors representing <1% of all adult neoplasms. Aim of our study was to evaluate promyelocytic leukemia gene expression value as prognostic factor and as a factor predicting response to alkylating agents/antracycline-based first line therapy. One hundred eleven patients affected by locally advanced and metastatic soft tissue sarcoma were selected. How dying tumor cells get noticed Besides killing tumor cells directly, some chemotherapies, such as anthracyclines, also activate the immune system to kill tumors. Vacchelli et al. discovered that in mice, anthracycline-induced antitumor immunity requires immune cells to express the protein formyl peptide receptor 1 (FPR1). Dendritic cells (DCs) near tumors expressed especially high amounts of FPR1.
