2019

Master's thesis English EN501 - University of Agder 2019 The objective of this study was to investigatehow the bilingual disadvantage of word finding relates to the bilingual language profile. In two experiments 30 Norwegian-English bilinguals were presented with definitions of four different types of low frequent target words, to try to induce tip-of-the-tongue states: common noun cognates, common noun non-cognates, proper noun cognates, and proper noun non-cognates. If the participants experienced the feeling of knowing the target word, but had trouble finding it, they reported being in a tip-of-the-tongue state(TOT). One experiment was in English, the other in Norwegian. The participants…

Speculation and lottery-like demand in cryptocurrency markets

2021

Abstract This is the first paper that explores lottery-like demand in cryptocurrency markets. Since recent research provides evidence that cryptocurrency returns appear to be short-memory processes, we modify Bali, Cakici and Whitelaw’s (2011) and Bali, Brown, Murray, and Tang’s (2017) MAX measure and employ a weekly forecast horizon and daily log-returns from the previous week to calculate the metric for our portfolio sorts. From an econometric point of view, this study proposes statistical tests that are robust to unknown dynamic dependency structures in the cryptocurrency data. Our results show that average raw and risk-adjusted return differences between cryptocurrencies in the lowest a…

Ei, bii, sii – vai jotain ihan muuta? Lukutaidon alkeet vientituotteeksi

2015

Jo yli 200 000 suomalaislasta on saanut tukea lukemaan oppimiseen Ekapelistä, tutkimustietoon pohjautuvasta lukutaidon alkeiden teknologia-avusteisesta oppimisympäristöstä. Ajatus lukutaitoon johdattelevasta tietokonepelistä syntyi jo vuosia sitten Jyväskylän yliopistossa tehdyn dysleksiatutkimuksen yhteydessä. Vaikka Ekapelin ideana olikin alun perin tukea niitä, joille lukemaan oppiminen tuottaa vaikeuksia, peli on havaittu hyväksi kenelle tahansa aloittelevalle lukijalle. Tästä syntyi ajatus tehdä pelistä uusia kieliversioita myös niille lapsille, joille lukutaito on isojen ponnistusten takana esimerkiksi heikon opetuksen, vieraan kielen tai yhteisön epäileväisten asenteiden takia. UNESC…

Heikkojen lukijoiden suoriutuminen luku- ja kirjoitustaitoa sekä niihin liittyviä taitoja arvioivissa tietokonetehtävissä neljännellä luokalla

2017

Tutkimuksen aineisto koostui 179 oppilaasta keskisuomalaisten peruskoulujen 4. luokilla.

2021
