Soluble GARP has potent antiinflammatory and immunomodulatory impact on human CD4+ T cells

Glycoprotein A repetitions predominant (GARP) is expressed on the surface of activated human regulatory T cells (Treg) and regulates the bioavailability of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β). GARP has been assumed to require membrane anchoring. To investigate the function of GARP in more detail, we generated a soluble GARP protein (sGARP) and analyzed its impact on differentiation and activation of human CD4⁺ T cells. We demonstrate that sGARP efficiently represses proliferation and differentiation of naïve CD4⁺ T cells into T effector cells. Blue light irradiation suppresses dendritic cells activationin vitro

Blue light is a UV-free irradiation suitable for treating chronic skin inflammation, for example, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, and hand- and foot eczema. However, a better understanding of the mode of action is still missing. For this reason, we investigated whether dendritic cells (DC) are directly affected by blue light irradiation in vitro. Here, we report that irradiation neither induced apoptosis nor maturation of monocyte-derived and myeloid DC. Innovative therapies for severe lung diseases (such as allergic and chronic asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or any type of lung cancer) require a detailed understanding of the cellular and immune processes in the lung. The Programmed Death (PD)‐1/PD‐Ligand 1 Pathway Regulates Graft‐Versus‐Host‐Reactive CD8 T Cells After Liver Transplantation

Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) is a life-threatening complication after solid-organ transplantation, which is mediated by host-reactive donor T cells emigrating from the allograft. We report on two liver transplant recipients who developed an almost complete donor chimerism in peripheral blood and bone marrow-infiltrating T cells during aGVHD. By analyzing these T cells directly ex vivo, we found that they died by apoptosis over time without evidence of rejection by host T cells. Abstract IL-2 influences both survival and differentiation of CD4+ T effector and regulatory T cells. We studied the effect of i.n. administration of Abs against the α- and the β-chains of the IL-2R in a murine model of allergic asthma.
