A legal and economic analysis of the concept of anticipatory breach under the CISG
2021
Contractual remedies are traditionally available after the breach of a contract, but can a party suspecting non-performance prior to the date of performance entitled to seek for remedies? The United Nations Convention on the International Sale of Goods (CISG), regulates the doctrine of anticipatory breach in Articles 71-73, outlining the circumstances in which an anticipatory breach is deemed to occur and the remedies available to the aggrieved party. The Convention entitles the innocent party to the right to suspend or avoid but it contains unambiguous terms in need for interpretation. Additionally, the doctrine of anticipatory breach begs the questions of economic efficiency, a fundamenta…
Labour codes of conduct and labour policy codes : an overview
2014
Labour codes of conduct and labour policy codes are two legal instruments which employers have at their disposal to regulate stakeholder relations (workers, suppliers and customers). Yet their purpose is often unclear. Labour codes of conduct apply to suppliers, worker¿s suppliers and customers. They are also regarded as soft law initiatives and this is why some difficulties arise when they are challenged in court. Conversely, labour policy codes concern employees and are fully enforceable. The problem stems from the terminology employed to refer to them, which makes it particularly difficult to draw a distinction. Accordingly, this paper seeks to clarify the differences between these two c…
Advanced Techniques for Design and Manufacturing in Marine Engineering
2022
Modern engineering design processes are driven by the extensive use of numerical simulations, and naval architecture as well as ocean engineering are no exception. Structural design or fluid dynamic performance evaluation can only be carried out by means of several dedicated pieces of software. Classical naval design methodology can take advantage of the integration of these pieces of software, giving rise to more robust design in terms of shape, structural and hydrodynamic performances, and manufacturing processes. This Special Issue (SI) on “Advanced Techniques for Design and Manufacturing in Marine Engineering”, published in the Journal of Marine Science and Engineering, aimed to invite …
World`s Most Valuable Brand Resonation With Categories of Different Customer Needs
2017
One of the key performance indicators of brand success is its value. Brand value is an outcome of brand`s performance in market, and is largely depended from brand`s ability to satisfy certain customer needs. For the greatest success in the world`s market brand should resonate its ability to satisfy some of customer`s most universal needs. In this paper authors strives to find out which of the needs world`s most successful brands are resonating with. Therefore paper goal is to is to determine what customer needs world`s most valuable brands are primarily satisfying. First part of paper authors briefly evaluate Maslow theory of needs. In second part of paper authors identify main challenges …

UPnP control point for mobile phones in residential networks
2006
Together, Ericsson and HiA are studying the role of WiFi-enabled mobile phones in residential networks. This article describes a first step to allow mobile phones to discover and control networked residential media servers and renderers following the standards developed by the UPnP Forum.
Wireless Sensor Networks for Condition Based Maintenance: Security and Reliability
2009
Masteroppgave i informasjons- og kommunikasjonsteknologi 2009 – Universitetet i Agder, Grimstad In this thesis we present the requirements needed for a Condition Based Main- tenance (CBM) solution by using Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN). The sensor network needs to be secure and reliable to be implemented in a CBM solution, hence we have chosen the popular ZigBee protocol to see how it fulfill the reliability requirements of transmission delay, lost packets and battery consumption. The security requirements is based on the CIA(confidentiality, integrity, availability) triad for security objectives, and in this thesis we will give a general overview of the security mechanisms used in ZigBee t…
Revenue models, in-app purchase, and the app performance: Evidence from Apple's App Store and Google Play
2016
The effect of revenue models on app performance depends on the app store. The effect of in-app purchase on app performance depends on the app store.Paid, freemium and in-purchase models are shown to be effective in app store.Freemium and in-app purchase models are shown to be less effective in Google Play.App category influences the effects of both revenue models and in-app purchase. In this paper, we empirically examine how the revenue model (paid, free, or freemium) adopted for a given app affects the app revenue performance as measured by the app daily revenue rank. We also study the impact of in-app purchase on this measure of performance. Moreover, we study how such relationships are co…
TOURISM MARKETING - KEY CONCEPT OF TOURISM IN A WORLD OF GLOBALIZATION
2012
The latest trends in tourism emphasize the power of the globalized tourist-consumer, in the context of mondialisation of the market and of the diversity of tourism services, the tourism organizations must answer to a range of different tourism motivations meant to meet the needs and wishes of the tourism consumers over the period they travel for. Tourism marketing is a result of globalization, since, just like the globalization process, it creates links between the states of the world, the authorized touristic organizations making efforts to provide maximum satisfaction to the tourists and implicitly, to maximize their profit.
