Il teatro arabo moderno fa la sua comparsa soltanto alla metà del XIX secolo in un contesto caratterizzato da grandi cambiamenti politici, sociali e culturali. A partire dal 1847, data a cui risale quella che viene considerata la prima rappresentazione teatrale moderna, le città arabe si animano di sale teatrali in cui vengono inizialmente messi in scena adattamenti dei capolavori del teatro europeo. A ciò si aggiunge un costante lavoro di ricerca di una originalità araba attraverso il recupero di forme spettacolari e di testi appartenenti al patrimonio tradizionale. Una guida per percorrere un "viaggio" attraverso le immagini e per ricostruire le tappe che hanno portato al riconoscimento del sito UNESCO Arabo-normanno. L'obiettivo è quello di indicare attraverso le immagini il sincretismo culturale "arabo-normanno" rappresentato nelle opere e negli edifici civili e religiosi, riconducibili alla cultura bizantina, araba e “latina”. Lo scopo è di comprendere l'impatto che ebbe nel medioevo e nella civiltà mediterraneo-europea moderna, 'incrocio di culture che per secoli hanno caratterizzano il Mediterraneo. .

Versatile optimization-based speed-up method for autofocusing in digital holographic microscopy

We propose a speed-up method for the in-focus plane detection in digital holographic microscopy that can be applied to a broad class of autofocusing algorithms that involve repetitive propagation of an object wave to various axial locations to decide the in-focus position. The classical autofocusing algorithms apply a uniform search strategy, i.e., they probe multiple, uniformly distributed axial locations, which leads to heavy computational overhead. Our method substantially reduces the computational load, without sacrificing the accuracy, by skillfully selecting the next location to investigate, which results in a decreased total number of probed propagation distances. In this paper we obtain existence and uniqueness of solutions for the Cauchy problem for the minimizing total variation flow when the initial condition is a Radon measure in ℝN. We study limit solutions obtained by weakly approximating the initial measure μ by functions in L1(ℝN). We are able to characterize limit solutions when the initial condition μ=h+μs, where h∈L1(ℝN)∩L∞(ℝN), and μs=αℋk⌊ S,α≥0,k is an integer and S is a k-dimensional manifold with bounded curvatures.
