Solution of an initial-value problem for parabolic equations via monotone operator methods
2014
We study a general initial-value problem for parabolic equations in Banach spaces, by using a monotone operator method. We provide sufficient conditions for the existence of solution to such problem.

Quasilinear degenerate parabolic equations in unbounded domains
2004
We prove the existence of bounded solutions of Cauchy-Dirichlet problem associated to a degenerate parabolic equation of second order in divergence form in unbounded domain.
New approaches based on modified Gaussian models for the prediction of chromatographic peaks
2012
Abstract The description of skewed chromatographic peaks has been discussed extensively and many functions have been proposed. Among these, the Polynomially Modified Gaussian (PMG) models interpret the deviations from ideality as a change in the standard deviation with time. This approach has shown a high accuracy in the fitting to tailing and fronting peaks. However, it has the drawback of the uncontrolled growth of the predicted signal outside the elution region, which departs from the experimental baseline. To solve this problem, the Parabolic-Lorentzian Modified Gaussian (PLMG) model was developed. This combines a parabola that describes the variance change in the peak region, and a Lor…
Functional Type Error Control for Stabilised Space-Time IgA Approximations to Parabolic Problems
2018
The paper is concerned with reliable space-time IgA schemes for parabolic initial-boundary value problems. We deduce a posteriori error estimates and investigate their applicability to space-time IgA approximations. Since the derivation is based on purely functional arguments, the estimates do not contain mesh dependent constants and are valid for any approximation from the admissible (energy) class. In particular, they imply estimates for discrete norms associated with stabilised space-time IgA approximations. Finally, we illustrate the reliability and efficiency of presented error estimates for the approximate solutions recovered with IgA techniques on a model example.
A delay time bound for distributed parameter circuits with bipolar transistors
1990
We prove here a stability theorem concerning a parabolic system of equations with non-linear boundary conditions that governs the behaviour of a class of networks in which the bipolar transistors operating under large-signal conditions are interconnected with reg-lines modelled by telegraph equations
Parabolic Equations Minimizing Linear Growth Functionals: L1-Theory
2004
Let Ω be a bounded set in ℝN with boundary of class C1. We are interested in the problem $$ \left\{ \begin{gathered} \frac{{\partial u}} {{\partial t}} = diva\left( {x,Du} \right)in Q = \left( {0,\infty } \right) \times \Omega , \hfill \\ u\left( {t,x} \right) = \phi \left( x \right)on S = \left( {0,\infty } \right) \times \partial \Omega , \hfill \\ u\left( {0,x} \right) = u_0 \left( x \right)in x \in \Omega \hfill \\ \end{gathered} \right. $$ (1) where ϕ ∈ L1(∂Ω), u0 ∈ L2(Ω) and a(x, ξ) = ∇ξ f(x, ξ, f being a function with linear growth in ‖ξ‖ as ‖ξ‖ → ∞. One of the classical examples is the nonparametric area integrand for which \( f(x,\xi ) = \sqrt {1 + \left\| \xi \right\|^2 } \). Prob…
A Computational Technique for Solving Singularly Perturbed Delay Partial Differential Equations
2021
Abstract In this work, a matrix method based on Laguerre series to solve singularly perturbed second order delay parabolic convection-diffusion and reaction-diffusion type problems involving boundary and initial conditions is introduced. The approximate solution of the problem is obtained by truncated Laguerre series. Moreover convergence analysis is introduced and stability is explained. Besides, a test case is given and the error analysis is considered by the different norms in order to show the applicability of the method.
