The volcanic products of the late Miocene Morron de Villamayor volcano (Calatrava Volcanic Field, central Spain) are known for being one of the few outcrops of leucitites in the entire circum-Mediterranean area. These rocks are important because aragonite of mantle origin has been reported as inclusion in olivine macrocrysts. We use petrographic observations, mineral compositions, as well as oxygen and carbon isotope ratios coupled with experimental petrology to understand the origin of carbonate phase in these olivine-phyric rocks. Groundmass and macrocryst olivines range from δ18OVSMOW of +4.8‰, typical of mantle olivine values, to +7.4‰, indicating contamination by sedimentary carbonate.…

A long-snouted late Eifelian arthrodire from Aragon (Spain)

Carolowilhelmina geognostica Carls, 1995 is a large arthrodire (Placodermi) from the Tortodus kockelianus Conodont Zone, late Eifelian, in the Eastern Iberian Cordillera in southern Aragon. The somewhat incomplete but articulated skull is preserved, showing a long tubular rostral plate, very small postnasal plates, low toothless inferognathals, and a small, slender and flat parasphenoid. Supraorbital and central sensory lines meet their antimeres at the midline of the skull, forming a straight double line. Abstract Geochemical proxy records of sea surface temperature (SST) or sea surface salinity (SSS) variability on intra- and interannual time-scales in corals from geological periods older than Pleistocene are extremely rare due to pervasive diagenetic alteration of coralline aragonite. Very recently, however, stable isotope data (δ18O, δ13C) from specimens of Porites of Late Miocene age (10 Ma) have been shown to preserve original environmental signatures. In 1963, 1964 and 1967, in broadcasted interviews, reviews or novels, Louis Aragon and Elsa Triolet wrote about Johnny Hallyday, the star and his songs. Their views on him are always kind, and thus greatly differ from the opinion the so-called « intellectuels » of the time had on the young singer. Read in comparison with Daniel Rondeau's novel about Johnny, which is itself based on these previous texts, « LouisElsa »'s textual materials about Johnny are intertwined works who give Johnny some legitimacy, while furnishing matter for literary creation.
