Il progetto "Cignana" (Sicilia centro-meridionale). Prime considerazioni sulle dinamiche territoriali dalla preistoria al tardoantico

A tre anni dall'inizio del progetto di prospezione archeologica a carattere intensivo e sistematico condotto nel comprensorio di Cignana (circa 20 km ad Est di Agrigento), si illustrano i risultati preliminari della ricerca. Di particolare interesse è la fitta trama di insediamenti nei quali si rinviene solo industria litica in selce, cui si affiancano i numerosi frequentati nell'età del Bronzo; significative le attestazioni di età arcaica e classica e delle ceramiche della facies di S. Angelo Muxaro-Polizzello.

The aim of this paper is – from a comparative point of viewand to make an analitical and critical review of the archaeological surveys carried out by the University of Palermo in the hinterland of Alesa and Thermae Himeraeae (Northern Sicily) during the Roman period. The research is focused on: identifying the geographical and morphological characters, and the resources of the territory in Antiquity; analysing the distribution of the settlements in the Roman Age, connected to the resources and to the various aspects of the landscape.

Si illustra lo stato delle attuali conoscenze archeologiche relative al paesaggio rurale di età romana della Sicilia, attraverso i risultati delle prospezioni archeologiche e di analoghe ricerche effettuate a partire dagli anni '80 del secolo scorso. In alcuni territori (come Himera, Gela, Agrigento, Alesa, e in altre aree interne) queste ricerche hanno prodotto informazioni nuove che aiutano a comprendere le differenti dinamiche storiche che caratterizzano varie aree dell'isola. Abstract. Digital documentation and 3D modelling of archaeological sites are important for understanding, definition and recognition of the values of the sites and of the archaeological finds. The most part of archaeological sites are outdoor location, but a cover to preserve the ruins protects often parts of the sites. The possibility to acquire data with different techniques and merge them by using a single reference system allows creating multi-parties models in which 3D representations of the individual objects can be inserted.
