The increasing significance of operating systems (OSs) in the development of the internet of things (IoT) has emerged in the last decade. An event-driven OS is memory efficient and suitable for resource-constrained IoT devices and wireless sensors, although the program’s control flow, which is determined by events, is not always obvious. A multithreaded OS with sequential control flow is often considered clearer. However, this approach is memory-consuming. A hybrid OS seeks to combine the strengths of the event-driven approach with multithreaded approach. L’histoire des circuits automobiles dans le Nord de la France s’apparente à ce jour à un « territoire du vide ». Une historiographie peu conséquente, des corpus archivistiques incertains, une distribution « historique » des pratiques et du spectacle sportif régional qui repose encore largement sur les « sports de base » et les sports collectifs, rendent ces « mondes automobiles » peu visibles. Il s’agira ici, à partir d’une approche spatiale, d’en retracer la genèse et d’inscrire leur développement ainsi que leurs usages dans une temporalité étirée (XIXe-XXIe siècles).

Universal Patterns in Color-Emotion Associations Are Further Shaped by Linguistic and Geographic Proximity

Many of us “see red,” “feel blue,” or “turn green with envy.” Are such color-emotion associations fundamental to our shared cognitive architecture, or are they cultural creations learned through our languages and traditions? To answer these questions, we tested emotional associations of colors in 4,598 participants from 30 nations speaking 22 native languages. Participants associated 20 emotion concepts with 12 color terms. Pattern-similarity analyses revealed universal color-emotion associations (average similarity coefficient r = .88).
