Dire estetica, fare estetica con l'architettura

2013

Successivame…

Service-learning in the Spanish university system : a study based on deans’ perception

2019

Enterprise Architecture Compliance: the Viewpoint of Evaluation

2008

First published in the Proceedings of the European Conference on Information Management and Evaluation (ECIME 2007), September 20-21, 2007, Montpellier, France Enterprise Architecture (EA) provides a holistic view of entire organization, including various viewpoints such as business, information, systems and technology. It is of interest for academics and practitioners alike. It has been suggested that EA is an approach for controlling the complexity and constant changes in the organization and its business environment, assisting organizations in realizing a multitude of positive business impacts. As the organization transforms from the current EA state towards the improved target state thr…

Enterprise Architecture Evaluation Components

2008

First published in the Proceedings of the 11th International HAAMAHA Conference July 9-12, 2007, Poznan, Poland Enterprise Architecture (EA) is a holistic view of an organization, including the viewpoints of business, information, systems and technology. It is stated to provide significant benefits to organizations, and is therefore of interest for both academics and practitioners. However, evaluating EA, or its benefits, is difficult. Moreover, the studies on EA evaluation are mostly inconsistent, and almost omit the planning aspect of evaluation. This study suggests the evaluation components that need to be addressed in EA evaluation planning, charted by a literature review supplemented a…

Analysis of the current State of Enterprise Architecture Evaluation Methods and Practices

2008

First published in the Proceedings of the European Conference on Information Management and Evaluation (ECIME 2007), September 20-21, 2007, Montpellier, France Today, more and more organizations adopt enterprise architecture (EA) processes to cope with the changing environment and to improve their performance and competitiveness. However, the evaluation of EA regarding its quality and benefits is rather difficult. The studies of previous research resulted in the recognition that there is no methodology for enabling the EA evaluation by considering the whole EA. Therefore, this paper presents and analyses the current state of methods and practices to evaluate EA from different viewpoints. Th…

Towards a Generic Evaluation Model for Enterprise Architecture

2008

First published in the Journal of Enterprise Architecture, Vol. 3, No. 3, 2007, pp. 9-16. Republished with the kind permission of the Journal of Enterprise Architecture During the past few years, enterprise architectures (EAs) have become one of the major interests of both business and information technology (IT) practitioners and academics. It has been suggested that EA is an approach for controlling the complexity and constant changes in the organization’s business environment. Research has mainly focused on the development and modeling of EAs, while the quality aspects of EA have only recently gained attention, especially in the form of EA maturity models. These models have been develope…

Potential Critical Success Factors for Enterprise Architecture

2008

First published in the Journal of Enterprise Architecture, Vol. 2, No. 4, 2006 pp. 29-40. Republished with the kind permission of the Journal of Enterprise Architecture During the past few years, enterprise architectures (EAs) have garnered considerable attention from both practitioners and academics in the fields of information systems and business management. It is suggested that EA is an approach for controlling the complexity and constant changes in the business environment of an organization. Research has mainly focused on the development and modeling of EA, while quality aspects of EA have gained less attention. The aim of this study is to provide insight into the critical success fac…

Movement Detection with Event-Based Cameras: Comparison with Frame-Based Cameras in Robot Object Tracking Using Powerlink Communication

2018

Event-based cameras are not common in industrial applications despite the fact that they can add multiple advantages for applications with moving objects. In comparison with frame-based cameras, the amount of generated data is very low while keeping the main information in the scene. For an industrial environment with interconnected systems, data reduction becomes very important to avoid network congestion and provide faster response time. However, the use of new sensors as event-based cameras is not common since they do not usually provide connectivity to industrial buses. This work develops a network node based on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), including data acquisition and trac…

‘School, family and then hockey!’ Coaches’ views on dual career in ice hockey

2017

Despite the extensive research into coaches’ roles in supporting athletic development and motivation for sport, few studies have examined coaches’ attitudes and practices towards athletes’ dual careers. The present study extends European research into athletes’ dual careers by examining Finnish ice hockey coaches’ attitudes and practices surrounding players’ education. Ten male coaches aged 27–52 participated in semi-structured interviews. The data were analysed with an existential-narrative theoretical framework and with thematic and structural narrative analysis. Three composite vignettes were created entitled ‘supporting athletic development and players in reaching their own goals’, ‘enj…

Unified Radio and Network Control Across Heterogeneous Hardware Platforms

2016

Experimentation is an important step in the investigation of techniques for handling spectrum scarcity or the development of new waveforms in future wireless networks. However, it is impractical and not cost effective to construct custom platforms for each future network scenario to be investigated. This problem is addressed by defining Unified Programming Interfaces that allow common access to several platforms for experimentation-based prototyping, research, and development purposes. The design of these interfaces is driven by a diverse set of scenarios that capture the functionality relevant to future network implementations while trying to keep them as generic as possible. Herein, the d…
