This paper aims at showing how integrating the Archive of the Italian Latinity of the Middle Ages (ALIM) into the ILC4CLARIN repository can provide mutual benefits. Making ALIM available to a large community of scholars and researchers, on the one side, represents the first step to reduce the lack of resources for Medieval Latin in CLARIN and, on the other side, constitutes an unprecedented contribution to not only linguistic investigations, but also to the studies of the culture and science at the basis of the Western European society. When, instead, a user is looking at a document he cannot benefit from such information. He has to read the text to understand which words are important. In this paper we take a look at the idea of enhancing the perception of web documents with visualisation techniques borrowed from the tag clouds of Web 2.0. This thesis project deals with the organization of scriptural productions, archival and library practices of Cîteaux Abbey. We consider the multiple forms of these pratices: creation and increase of archival holdings (Abbey archives and cistercian Order documents), filing, preservation of archives, relations with users. This research takes into account the aspects of document materiality and archaeology, studying cartulary and register processes with their bindings, inventory methods of archives and manuscripts, document appraisal and disposal, classification or restoration, shelf-marks and other graphic characters.

A geoarchaeological study was led on four sections of the valleys of the Loire, Saône and Doubs rivers (Burgundy, France) in order to point out the factors influencing the alluvial dynamics on a multimillennial scale, and their effects on the preservation of archaeological information. Investigations started by roman and medieval remains of bridges discovered in active channels, were then carried out on larger parts of alluvial plains, and altogether allowed the evolutions of the channels during the Holocene period to be deducted.
