Abstract PIWI-interacting RNAs (piRNAs) and their partnering PIWI proteins defend the animal germline against transposable elements and play a crucial role in fertility. Numerous studies in the past have uncovered many additional functions of the piRNA pathway, including gene regulation, anti-viral defense, and somatic transposon repression. Further, comparative analyses across phylogenetic groups showed that the PIWI/piRNA system evolves rapidly and exhibits great evolutionary plasticity. El uso de relatos bíblicos constituye un recurso habitual dentro de la técnica compositiva del himnógrafo bizantino Romano Melodo. Por ello, en este artículo se pretende analizar la acomodación de un episodio concreto del Antiguo Testamento (Dn 3) a lo largo del corpus atribuido Romano y se cotejan los diferentes textos que pudieron ser tenidos en cuenta como fuentes.

Análisis de tres películas de historia europeas de la última década del siglo XX. La reina Margot, Patrice Chéreau, 1994; Juana de Arco de Luc Besson, 1999; El oficio de las armas, Ermanno Olmi, 2001. La tesis muestra las diferentes formas en que este cine neobarroco se conjuga con la historia, atendiendo al análisis del cine en su relación con la historia, las fuentes escritas e iconográficas, el teatro, las artes plásticas, el cómic, la cultura popular, así como con el propio cine. También hace especial mención a las representaciones sociales como forma de conocimiento propia del cine.

Status of new 18 GHz ECRIS HIISI

A new 18 GHz ECR ion source HIISI is under commissioning at the Accelerator Laboratory at the University of Jyvaskyla (JYFL). The main purpose of HIISI is to produce high-energy beam cocktails, e.g. Xe44+, for radiation effects testing of electronics with the K130 cyclotron. The initial commissioning results in 18+14 GHz operation with oxygen, argon and xenon are reported. The beam currents are compared to those produced by reference ion sources (JYFL 14 GHz ECRIS, GTS and SuSI). At the moment (October 2017) 560 µA of O6+ and 310 µA of Ar13+, for example, have been reached with HIISI at 2.3 kW total power.A new 18 GHz ECR ion source HIISI is under commissioning at the Accelerator Laboratory…
