This article scrutinizes the conceptual history of international anarchy. The argument purported here is that even though the idea of international anarchy is often seen as very central for the academic discipline of international relations, the concept is in fact not found from the forerunners or classics of the discipline. The assumption of international anarchy is commonly seen as a defining feature of a Realist school of international relations. Argumentaatioteoria tutkii väittelyprosessia, joka nähdään rationaalisena toimintana, ja jossa esitetään väitteitä sekä perustellaan niitä. Klassisen logiikan piirissä on traditio, jossa logiikan teoriaa käytetään argumentaatiossa esiintyvien päättelyjen mallintamiseen. Tässä työssä logiikan lähestymistapaa tarkastellaan sen argumenttien arviointikyvyn valossa, kun pätevyydellä tarkoitetaan loogista pätevyyttä. Havaitaan, että looginen pätevyys ei ole riittävä kriteeri, sillä relevanssi muodostuu ongelmaksi. Normalmente la teoría de la argumentación se centra en los elementos reductibles a estructuras (como las “formas lógicas”) en perjuicio de los elementos estéticos, que se perciben como ornamentales, terreno de automatismos y manipulaciones. Avicenna is a strong proponent of what some of the later ones call qāʻidat al-wāḥid or ‘rule of the one’ (RO). The gist of RO states: from the one only one directly proceeds. In the secondary literature, discussion of this Avicennian rule is usually limited to a particular application of it i.e., the issue of emanation. As result, it’s not really clear what RO means, nor why Avicenna endorsed it. In this paper, I try and remedy this situation by doing two things – one on the taṣawwur front, the other on the tasdīq.
