Students’ evaluation of information during online inquiry: Working individually or in pairs

Varying information quality and an increase of misinformation on the Internet accentuates the importance of supporting students’ competencies to critically evaluate information. This study compared how individuals and pairs of secondary students worked to evaluate the quality of online information across two inquiry topics. Two similar studies were conducted with 140 Finnish (Study I) and 52 US (Study II) students. Students were asked to conduct an online inquiry and then write an essay about one of two topics: allowing the genetic modification of organisms (GMO) or the effects of social media on people’s quality of life (SM). In a Domus article published in 1998, John Thackara claimed that design would lead by entropy in the future, and he won- dered how to avoid a similar dystopian scenario. As designers, we are aware of how wicked problems are really hard to face and how complexity has increased in these past decades: trans- disciplinary skills are therefore increasingly required. Evolution of nurses' social representation of hospital hygiene: From training to practice

Nurses' social representations of hospital hygiene were analyzed. A cross-sectional method was used to compare and analyze the social representations of the concept domain of "hospital hygiene" across three independent groups of participants (N=744). The groups included: (a) professional nurses (N=114); (b) student nurses (N=315); and (c) psychology students (N=315). Comparisons were drawn: (a) between professionals and students; and (b) between student nurse cohorts at three different levels (years) of training. Constant sign and nodal solutions for parametric anisotropic $(p, 2)$-equations

We consider an anisotropic ▫$(p, 2)$▫-equation, with a parametric and superlinear reaction term.Weshow that for all small values of the parameter the problem has at least five nontrivial smooth solutions, four with constant sign and the fifth nodal (sign-changing).
