The banding pattern of polytene chromosomes of Drosophila guanche compared with that of D. subobscura.
1987
A detailed map of the salivary gland chromosomes of Drosophila guanche is presented and compared to the standard gene arrangements of D. subobscura. Generally, the polytene chromosomc banding patterns of the two species show a high degrce of homology. Only Segment I of the sex chromosome (Chromosome A) shows marked differences. The banding pattern proposed for this segment in D. guanche could have originated from a cluster of overlapping inversions including A1 arrangement.
The association between parental education, living arrangements and dietary habits among overweight and obese Norwegian children aged 6-10 years : “F…
2016
Masteroppgave folkehelsevitenskap - Universitetet i Agder 2016 Children´s dietary patterns have changed the passed decades. Children are more overweight and obese, and social inequalities related to this topic are discussed among all societies. The purpose of the master thesis was to explore the association between the sociodemographic factors parental education and living arrangements and the availability and intake of selected food items and total energy intake and macronutrient intake among overweight and obese Norwegian children aged 6-10 years. The thesis is an extension of the theory that is used in the article. This thesis begins with an introduction, which further expands to the ela…
The Institution of Security Agent: A Comparative Study of Polish and French Laws
2022
In many continental legal systems it was often problematic to grant a security right to an entity separate from the holder(s) of the secured receivables. Such arrangement was especially desired by the parties in complex lending structures with many creditors. To solve this problem various legal solutions have been created in different countries. In Poland and in France the special institution of a security agent has been introduced. Aim of this article is to compare those two regulations. The conclusion is that the French provisions better deals with the challenges posed by the entity separation problem. Security agent, collective security arrangements, entity separation, unity principle, s…
Multiskilled in many ways : Ghanaian Female Journalists Between Job and Home
2020
In Ghana, feminisation of journalism profession has become a fact: more girls are entering journalism programmes in the Universities, and the number of women employees are growing in the newsrooms. The problem of balancing worktime arrangements (e.g. irregular and unpredictable work schedules, weekend work and long working hours) with equally important domestic obligations are familiar to most female journalists around the globe. Even in countries with well-developed social support structures, and well-defined labour laws, the current nature of journalism worktime arrangements impedes many female journalists to achieve work–life balance. For most Ghanaian female journalists, the culturally …
Fluorinated heterocyclic compounds: an assay on the photochemistry of some fluorinated 1-oxa-2-azoles: an expedient route to fluorinated heterocycles
2004
Abstract Photoinduced heterocyclic rearrangements of ON bond-containing azoles have been claimed in the synthesis of target fluorinated heterocyclic compounds. In this context, the photochemical behavior of some fluorinated 1,2,4-oxadiazoles has been investigated. Irradiations of 3-amino-5-perfluoroalkyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles at λ =313 nm in methanol gave open-chain products arising from a reaction of the nucleophilic solvent with either the first formed ring-photolytic species or with a nitrilimine moiety generated from it. Differently, irradiations in methanol with the presence of triethylamine (TEA) followed competing phototransposition pathways leading to the ring-isomers 2-amino-5-perfluo…
Stabilise, balance and adjust : Framing the early years transitions of children whose parents work non‐standard hours
2022
This study examined talk by parents about the early years transitions of their children (n = 7) in the context of parental non-standard working hours and Finnish early childhood education and care (ECEC) services. Parents were interviewed at three time points: when their child was aged one, four, five or six years (a total of 21 interviews). The third interview was conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic. This article focuses on the children's ECEC transitions and the interpretative frames used by parents when talking about their work and childcare. The frames used by the parents to discuss the children's transitions were stabilising the children's lives, balancing between staying at home an…
