Among the different subtypes of ischaemic strokes, almost 20 % are of cardiac origin. Different are the causes of cardioembolic stroke, but the most common is the atrial fibrillation, a supraventricular arrhythmia. Appropriate use of antiplatelet drugs and anticoagulants after transient ischaemic attack (TIA) or ischaemic stroke depends on whether the underlying cause is cardioembolic or of presumed arterial origin. Adequate antiplatelet therapy is recommended for secondary prevention after cerebral ischaemia of presumed arterial origin, whether for patients with TIA and ischaemic stroke of cardiac origin, mainly due to atrial fibrillation. The neurological damage after cardiac arrest (CA) constitutes a big challenge of hospital discharge since years. The therapeutic hypothermia therapy (34°C-32°C) has shown its benefit to reduce cerebral oxygen demand and improve neurological outcomes after the cardiac arrest. CPAP treatment decreases BP in OSA patients, especially in severe OSA, and in patients with poorly controlled BP. OSA adversely affects heart function and remodelling, but its role in the pathogenesis of HF remains unclear. Similarly, the impact of CPAP is uncertain, and results of the ongoing ADVENT-HF trial will provide more information. Background: Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are associated with tachycardiomyopathy and high mortality rate. The treatment depends on the engaged ventricle. For PVCs originating from the right outflow tract (OT), radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) is recommended (class IB‑R recommendation) in preference to pharmacotherapy.
