Quality based classification of gasoline samples by ATR-FTIR spectrometry using spectral feature selection with quadratic discriminant analysis

Abstract A chemometric approach has been developed for characterization of gasoline samples regarding their quality. Attenuated total reflectance – infrared spectrometric data were processed by genetic algorithm (GA) and successive projection algorithm (SPA) feature selection techniques, being employed as an initial step prior to apply a discriminative tool. It was aimed to classify the fuel samples according to their quality passed/failed data. The generalizability of programs synthesized by genetic programming (GP) to unseen test cases is one of the main challenges of GP-based program synthesis. Recent work showed that increasing the amount of training data improves the generalizability of the programs synthesized by GP. However, generating training data is usually an expensive task as the output value for every training case must be calculated manually by the user. This study reports the translation and adaptation of a multifaceted German networking scale ( Wolff & Moser, 2006 ) into English and focuses on the equivalence of the two language versions. GHOST: GRADIENT HISTOGRAM OF SPECTRAL TEXTURE

International audience; A gradient-based texture feature for hyperspectral image is formulated with straightforward application to grayscale and color images. Processed in full band, GHOST is expressed as a four-dimensional probability density distribution encompassing joint metrological assessment of spectral and spatial properties. Its performance is close to Opponent Band Local Binary Pattern (OBLBP) in HyTexiLa texture classification (91 %-99 % accuracy) with feature size 0.2 % of OBLBP's.
Inference of Spatiotemporal Processes over Graphs via Kernel Kriged Kalman Filtering

Inference of space-time signals evolving over graphs emerges naturally in a number of network science related applications. A frequently encountered challenge pertains to reconstructing such dynamic processes given their values over a subset of vertices and time instants. The present paper develops a graph-aware kernel-based kriged Kalman filtering approach that leverages the spatio-temporal dynamics to allow for efficient online reconstruction, while also coping with dynamically evolving network topologies.
