Näkemys oikeudenmukaisuudesta ja kihlakunnantuomarin viraltapano 1700-luvun puolivälin Vanhassa Suomessa

Sven Johan Östring hoiti Vanhassa Suomessa sijainneen Savonlinnan tuomiokunnan kihlakunnantuomarin virkaa reilun vuosikymmen ajan keväästä 1747 kesään 1760. Kihlakunnantuomarin ja tuomiokunnan rahvaan välit kärjistyivät 1750-luvun lopulla talonpoikien valittaessa toistuvasti tuomari Östringin väärinkäytöksistä. Talonpoikien mukaan kihlakunnantuomari Östring oli heidän vihamiehensä. Artikkelissa kysytään, miten virkavirhevalitusprosessit etenivät ja mitkä syyt johtivat lopulta kihlakunnantuomarin viraltapanoon. Integrating insights from new institutional economics and studies on the collapse of past empires, we sketch a process model that links economic degrowth to the collapse of institutional orders. Our thought experiment starts from emphasizing the importance of institutions and enforcement mechanisms in maintaining a sufficient level of economic activity to sustain public costs. Artikkelissa selvitetään suomen kieleen sovelletun Language Assessment, Remediation and Screening Procedure -menetelmän (FIN-LARSP) käyttökelpoisuutta morfosyntaktisten taitojen arvioinnissa kolmella lapsella (4;1–4;9), joilla on kielellinen erityisvaikeus (KEV). LARSP kehitettiin alunperin englannin kieleen mutta siitä on myöhemmin tehty sovelluksia useisiin kieliin. Nyt esiteltävän pilottitutkimuksen tulokset osoittavat, että tieteellisessä tutkimuksessa FIN-LARSP puolustaa hyvin paikkaansa suomenkielisten lasten morfosyntaktisten taitojen analysointi- ja diagnosointimenetelmänä. Tekstit sekä rikastavat käsitystä Gaddin toiminnasta istutuspäällikkönä että antavat esimerkin mahdollisesta julkisuuden käytöstä vapaudenajan lopun Ruotsissa.

The article aims at combining two methodological approaches, namely corpus linguistics and discourse studies. Both of these approaches are present in corpus-assisted discourse studies (CADS) which makes use of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. First, an attempt is made to discuss the differences and similarities of these two traditions based on Leech’s (2000) listing. However, it turns out that this listing does not include all necessary viewpoints, and those are further discussed. This article discusses reading circles of adult Finnish as a second language (L2) readers. The books that were read and discussed in the circles were easy-to-read fiction. The study focuses on how the readers interpret what they read and what kind of support they need for their interpretations. The analysis utilizes the concept of scaffolding, used in socio-cultural learning theory. The readers’ reading stances vary from what is literally said in the text to creating their own interpretations of the hidden meanings of the text.
