Mid-term results of zone 0 thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair after ascending aorta wrapping and supra-aortic debranching in high-risk patients

Objectives Surgical repair of aneurysmal disease involving the ascending aorta, aortic arch and eventually the descending aorta is generally associated with significant morbidity and mortality. A less invasive approach with the ascending wrapping technique (WT), supra-aortic vessel debranching (SADB) and thoracic endovascular aneurysm repair (TEVAR) in zone 0 was developed to reduce the associated risk in these patients. A New Off-Pump Hybrid Open and Endovascular Repair to Treat Ductus Botalli and Ascendens Aneurysms

To report a combined ascending aorta and aortic arch hybrid repair, we performed off-pump with no aortic graft replacement. A 65-year-old man, developing progressive recurrent laryngeal nerve paralysis, underwent a computed tomography (CT) angiography detecting nonpatent residual ductus Botalli aneurysm and ascending aorta aneurysm. Due to severe multimorbidities, a less-invasive alternative was elaborated. The combination of different ultrasound techniques such as transthoracic, suprasternal, subcostal, and TEE has a high sensitivity and specificity in the diagnosis of aortic dissection. Limitations of this combined ultrasound technique are related to the visualization of the ascending part of the aortic arch, which, because of the interposition of the trachea, cannot be visualized completely. The beginning or end of a dissection in this part of the aorta may be misinterpreted. However, false-negative results are rare. Cross-clamping a porcelain aorta: an alternative technique for high-risk patients

Intussusceptive Remodeling of Vascular Branch Angles in Chemically-Induced Murine Colitis

Intussusceptive angiogenesis is a developmental process linked to both blood vessel replication and remodeling in development. To investigate the prediction that the process of intussusceptive angiogenesis is associated with vessel angle remodeling in adult mice, we systematically evaluated corrosion casts of the mucosal plexus in mice with trinitrobenzesulphonic acid (TNBS)-induced and dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis. The mice demonstrated a significant decrease in vessel angles in both TNBS-induced and DSS-induced colitis within 4 weeks of the onset of colitis (p<.001).
