Polatuzumab vedotin as a salvage and bridging treatment in relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphomas

2021

The antibody-drug conjugate polatuzumab vedotin (pola) has recently been approved in combination with bendamustine and rituximab (pola-BR) for patients with refractory or relapsed (r/r) large B-cell lymphoma (LBCL). To investigate the efficacy of pola-BR in a real-world setting, we retrospectively analyzed 105 patients with LBCL who were treated in 26 German centers under the national compassionate use program. Fifty-four patients received pola as a salvage treatment and 51 patients were treated with pola with the intention to bridge to chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy (n = 41) or allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (n = 10). Notably, patients in the salvage and brid…

Brevi note comparatistiche in tema di suicidio assistito

2019

The essay focuses on the legitimacy of assisted suicide in Italy and in England and Wales, particularly with regard to patients suffering from severe pain from incurable or terminal illnesses. In two recent cases (Cappato and Nicklinson), both Italian and English judges suggested to the Parliament to modify the current state of the law, without making a declaration of incompatibility with Article 8 of the Convention. The paper compares the approach of Corte Costituzionale and UK Supreme Court to the issue, revealing the ambiguity hidden behind those common decisions.

Il fine vita e il legislatore pensante: I minori e la volontà di farla finita

2021

The essay explores the possibility that, in the future, Italian law might consider children and adolescents as subjects eligible to controversial practices such as euthanasia or assisted suicide, widening the limits drawn by the Constitutional Court in the sentence n. 242/2019. The national and European legal frameworks allow estimating, under a comparative perspective, the low probability that such legislation will be enacted in Italy

ABSTRACT Study Objective The primary aim of our study was to investigate the incidence of endometrial pathologies, especially endometrial cancer, in women with breast cancer treated with tamoxifen (TAM), aromatase inhibitors (AIs), or receiving no treatment (NT). The secondary aim was to identify, in this cohort, ultrasonographic findings that represent robust indications for hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy, to avoid unnecessary second-level diagnostic procedures. Design Multicenter retrospective cohort study (Clinical Trial ID: NCT03898947). Setting Data were collected from different Italian centers: Regina Elena National Cancer Institute of Rome, Arbor Vitae Centre of Rome, Gaetano Ma…

2013

This paper discusses the floristic structure, distribution and habitat requirements of a new forest syntaxon, Populetum talassicae ass. nova. The potential range of the Populetum talassicae association comprises the central Pamir-Alai and Tian-Shan Mountains in Middle Asia. The biotope of this community comprises high mountain river valleys and shore zones of mountain lakes situ- ated at elevations between 2200 and 2750 m. Phytocoenoses of the Populetum talassicae association are characterized by a clear predominance in the tree layer of a characteristic species of the association ‒ Populus talassica.
