Analysis of geometric operators on open manifolds: A groupoid approach

The first five sections of this paper are a survey of algebras of pseudodifferential operators on groupoids. We thus review differentiable groupoids, the definition of pseudodifferential operators on groupoids, and some of their properties. We use then this background material to establish a few new results on these algebras, results that are useful for the analysis of geometric operators on non-compact manifolds and singular spaces. The first step is to establish that the geometric operators on groupoids are in our algebras. The general context of this thesis is an effort to establish a bridge between gravitational andoptical physics, specifically in the context of scattering problems using as a guideline concepts andtools taken from the theory of non-self-adjoint operators. Our focus is on Quasi-Normal Modes(QNMs), namely the natural resonant modes of open leaky structures under linear perturbationssubject to outgoing boundary conditions. On Determinants of Integrable Operators with Shifts

Integrable integral operator can be studied by means of a matrix Riemann--Hilbert problem. However, in the case of so-called integrable operators with shifts, the associated Riemann--Hilbert problem becomes operator valued and this complicates strongly the analysis. In this note, we show how to circumvent, in a very simple way, the use of such a setting while still being able to characterize the large-$x$ asymptotic behavior of the determinant associated with the operator.

Recenti indagini hanno permesso di accertare una presenza storica, seppur limitata, di razze animali, oggi estinte, sulle isole parasicule.
