The book concerns the ways in which the new media shape communication along with educational expectations and practices in foreign language classrooms. In this article we propose a formal man-machine interactive approach to multiple criteria optimization with multiple decision makers. The approach is based on some of our earlier research findings in multiple criteria decision making. A discrete decision space is assumed. The same framework may readily be used for multiple criteria mathematical programming problems. Lower and Upper Probability Bounds for Some Conjunctions of Two Conditional Events

In this paper we consider, in the framework of coherence, four different definitions of conjunction among conditional events. In each of these definitions the conjunction is still a conditional event. We first recall the different definitions of conjunction; then, given a coherent probability assessment (x, y) on a family of two conditional events \(\{A|H,B|K\}\), for each conjunction \((A|H) \wedge (B|K)\) we determine the (best) lower and upper bounds for the extension \(z=P[(A|H) \wedge (B|K)]\). This reflective paper presents a new course concept for multilingual interaction, which was piloted at the University of Jyväskylä Language Centre in the spring of 2014. A Test of the Relationship Between Argumentativeness and Individualism/Collectivism in the United States and Finland

2016

This study explored relationships between argumentativeness and collectivism/individualism in Finland and the United States. Data were gathered in the United States (n = 412) and Finland (n = 261). The analysis suggested: (a) collectivism was negatively correlated with argumentativeness, (b) individualism was positively correlated with argumentativeness, and (c) Finnish participants reported lower levels of argumentativeness than Americans. Cultural differences between the United States and Finland are discussed as reasons for the differences between the nations on argumentativeness.

Psychol., 1968, 9, 161–168.—As a partial replication of the Takala & Rantanen (1964) study, the correlations between 6 graphic variables extracted from 6 drawing tasks differing in complexity were investigated. Four graphic trait factors were obtained I Size, II Pressure, III Discontinuous lines, and IV Angularity. Other graphic variables (nuancity and reinforcement) loaded factors II and III.
