A Study on Classification Methods Applied to Sentiment Analysis
2013
Sentiment analysis is a new area of research in data mining that concerns the detection of opinions and/or sentiments in texts. This work focuses on the application and the comparison of three classification techniques over a text corpus composed of reviews of commercial products in order to detect opinions about them. The chosen domain is about "perfumes", and user opinions composing the corpus are written in Italian language. The proposed approach is completely data-driven: a Term Frequency / Inverse Document Frequency (TFIDF) terms selection procedure has been applied in order to make computation more efficient, to improve the classification results and to manage some issues related to t…
The Reception of Women’s and Gender History: A Perspective from the Italian Association of Women Historians
2020
The core of the contribution is the inescapable interplay between what prompts and characerised research, the institutionalisation of a discipline and the conditions of the production and validation of historical knowledge, with a particular attention devoted to women's and gender history in italian academy.
The hidden side of the Ultimatum Game: The role of motivations and mind-reading in a two-level one-shot Ultimatum Game
2015
The main aim of our study is to investigate the role of motivations and mind-reading in a two-level one-shot Ultimatum Game with three players. Our intention is to analyse subjects’ behaviour in both the responder and proposer roles. In the responder role, we found that the difference between the subjects’ expectations and the actual offers was the major factor that influenced their decisions and motivations in receiving money. In the proposer role, our results showed a significant influence of mind-reading, with a positive association between the fairness of subjects’ offers and the subjects’ expectations about the recipients’ willingness to accept. Although a shared concept of fairness ex…
Understanding the smartphone generation: is problematic smartphone use associated with low body esteem among adolescent girls and boys?
2020
Contemporary adolescents increasingly engage with social media via their smartphones, and problematic smartphone use has been identified as a growing concern. The aim of the current study was to examine the association between problematic smartphone use and body esteem among adolescent boys and girls. A sample of 647 adolescents (mean age: 14.15 years; 56.7% females) completed measures of problematic smartphone use, emotional regulation, and body esteem. Findings from hierarchical regression models revealed that problematic smartphone use was weakly associated with body esteem among both adolescent girls and boys. Furthermore, difficulties with emotional regulation were moderately associate…
Genetic variation in human leukocyte antigen and susceptibility to acute myeloid leukemia.
2015
In this issue of Acta Haematologica, Authors report the association between the Human Major Histocompatibility complex (MHC) HLA-C3 and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in Korean population, confirming previous studies on association between HLA-C and AML.
Liver and Statins: A Critical Appraisal of the Evidence.
2019
Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) represent an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Statins are a class of drugs whose main adverse effects are drug-induced liver injury (DILI) and myopathy. Some of these may be predictable, due to their pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties, while others, unfortunately, are idiosyncratic. Genetic factors may also influence patient susceptibility to DILI and myopathy in the case of statins. This review will first discuss the role of statins in cardiovascular disease treatment and prevention and the underlying mechanisms of action. Furthermore, to explore the susceptibility of statin-induced adverse events such as myopathy and hepatoto…
Azione antalgica di Hydrogel nell'orbitopatia basedowiana
2007
Congenital malformations.
2012
Congenital malformations are single or multiple defects of the morphogenesis of organs or body districts identifiable at birth or during the intrauterine life. Their global birth prevalence is about 2–3%. Both genetic and environmental factors, as well as their combination in a multifactorial contest, may induce congenital defects. Congenital malformations may be classi- fied on the basis of clinical, etiologic as well as pathogenetic criteria. Relevant diagnostic and therapeutic tools have been progressively improving in the last decades, contributing to a better identification and a reduction of long-term morbidity and mortality of these patients. A correct identification of a congen- ita…
Testing for local structure in spatiotemporal point pattern data
2017
The detection of clustering structure in a point pattern is one of the main focuses of attention in spatiotemporal data mining. Indeed, statistical tools for clustering detection and identification of individual events belonging to clusters are welcome in epidemiology and seismology. Local second-order characteristics provide information on how an event relates to nearby events. In this work, we extend local indicators of spatial association (known as LISA functions) to the spatiotemporal context (which will be then called LISTA functions). These functions are then used to build local tests of clustering to analyse differences in local spatiotemporal structures. We present a simulation stud…
