ON A QUESTION OF BEIDLEMAN AND ROBINSON

2002

[EN] In [J. C. Beidleman, D. J. S. Robinson, J. Algebra 1997, 191, 686--703, Theorem A], Beidleman and Robinson proved that if a group satisfies the permutizer condition, it is soluble, its chief factors have order a prime number or 4 and G induces the full group of automorphisms in the chief factors of order 4. In this paper, we show that the converse of this theorem is false by showing some counterexamples. We also find some sufficient conditions for a group satisfying the converse of that theorem to satisfy the permutizer condition.

AUTOMORPHISMS OF THE ENDOMORPHISM SEMIGROUP OF A FREE ASSOCIATIVE ALGEBRA

2007

Let [Formula: see text] be the variety of associative algebras over a field K and A = K 〈x1,…, xn〉 be a free associative algebra in the variety [Formula: see text] freely generated by a set X = {x1,…, xn}, End A the semigroup of endomorphisms of A, and Aut End A the group of automorphisms of the semigroup End A. We prove that the group Aut End A is generated by semi-inner and mirror automorphisms of End A. A similar result is obtained for the automorphism group Aut [Formula: see text], where [Formula: see text] is the subcategory of finitely generated free algebras of the variety [Formula: see text]. The later result solves Problem 3.9 formulated in [17].

Fixpunktmengen von halbeinfachen Automorphismen in halbeinfachen Lie-Algebren

1976

Let g be a semisimple Lie algebra over an algebraically closed field of characteristic 0. The set of fixed points of a semisimple inner automorphism of g is a regular reductive subalgebra of maximal rank [1], so it is defined by a subsystem of the root system Φ of g relative to a suitable Cartan subalgebra. The main theorem of the article characterizes the corresponding subsystems of Φ. The second part of the article shows how to compute the fixed point algebras of semisimple outer automorphisms of g. A complete list of all fixed point algebras is then easily obtainable. The results are applied to bounded symmetric domains. References

?Almost? mean-field ising model: An algebraic approach

1991

We study the thermodynamic limit of the algebraic dynamics for an "almost" mean-field Ising model, which is a slight generalization of the Ising model in the mean-field approximation. We prove that there exists a family of "relevant" states on which the algebraic dynamics αt can be defined. This αt defines a group of automorphisms of the algebra obtained by completing the standard spin algebra with respect to the quasiuniform topology defined by our states. © 1991 Plenum Publishing Corporation.

Multiplizitten ?unendlich-ferner? Spitzen

1979

LetX be the quotient of a bounded symmetric domainD by an arithmetically defined subgroup Γ of all analytic automorphisms ofD and letX * be theSatake-compactification ofX. In the present note, the multiplicities of the local rings of the zero-dimensional boundary components ofX * will be computed in a completely elementary manner using reduction-theory in selfadjoint homogeneous cones.
