Predictive Energy Management for Hybrid Vehicles Based on Driving Cycle Recognition

2017

International audience; This article presents a novel approach to design an optimum energy management for a series plug-in hybrid electric vehicle based on driving cycle recognition. Thanks to an intensive study of driver habits, an important part of cycles is predictable. Optimized energy management can be developed for representative cycles via DP. Those results can be applied to the same cycle with slight adaptations thereafter with quality factors above 98%.

Estimation of Passenger Car Equivalents for single-lane roundabouts using a microsimulation-based procedure

2017

Calibration of microscopic traffic simulation models for single-lane roundabouts.Use of a meta-analytical estimation of critical and follow up headways.Use of a genetic algorithm-based procedure.Calculation of passenger car equivalents for single-lane roundabouts. Passenger car equivalents for heavy vehicles are required to carry out capacity calculations and perform operational analysis of any road entity (roadway segments or intersections). At single-lane roundabouts, the constraints to the vehicular trajectories imposed by the curvilinear geometric design and the driver's gap acceptance behaviour are expected to produce an impact of the heavy vehicles on the quality of traffic flow diffe…

An estimator algorithm for the rotation time of magnetization vector in nuclear magnetic resonance for imaging (NMRI)

2018

The purpose of this paper is to propose a useful method to investigate the rotation time of the magnetization vector in the nuclear magnetic resonance for imaging (NMRI) system. The ninety degrees rotation of the magnetization vector is the first step in order to establish the free induction decay that radiates electromagnetic energy inside the NMRI chamber. The estimator involved in this research is called Luenberger's observer which is a state estimator of a dynamical system. The Bloch's equation is a dynamical system characterized by a radio frequency (RF) impulse located inside the dynamic matrix, which means the system is not linear. The observer algorithm involved in this paper estim…

Collision orbits in the oblate planet problem

1984

Some of the properties of the oblate planet problem are derived. We use the technique of blowing up the singularity to study the collision orbits. We define some families of them in terms of their asymptotic behavior.

Geometry-Based Statistical Modeling of Non-WSSUS Mobile-to-Mobile Rayleigh Fading Channels

2017

In this paper, we present a novel geometry-based statistical model for small-scale non-wide-sense stationary uncorrelated scattering (non-WSSUS) mobile-to-mobile (M2M) Rayleigh fading channels. The proposed model builds on the principles of plane wave propagation to capture the temporal evolution of the propagation delay and Doppler shift of the received multipath signal. This is different from existing non-WSSUS geometry-based statistical channel models, which are based on a spherical wave propagation approach, that in spite of being more realistic is more mathematically intricate. By considering an arbitrary geometrical configuration of the propagation area, we derive general expressions …

A Unified Disk Scattering Model and Its Angle-of-Departure and Time-of-Arrival Statistics

2013

This paper proposes a novel probability density function (PDF) for the distribution of local scatterers inside a disk centered on the mobile station (MS). The new scattering model is introduced as the unified disk scattering model (UDSM), as it unifies a variety of typical circularly symmetric scattering models into one simple model. By adjusting a designated shape factor controlling the distribution of the scatterers, both the uniform circular and uniform ring scattering models can be obtained as special cases. Furthermore, the original Gaussian and uniform hollow-disk scattering models can be approximated with a high level of accuracy. In addition to these established scattering models, a…

Approach to rotor-shaft hysteretic whirl using Krylov-Bogoliubov techniques

2013

The internal friction associated with the shaft hysteresis or with the possible release of some shrink-fit coupling exerts a destabilizing effect on the over-critical rotor running, but may be efficiently counteracted by other external dissipative sources or by a proper anisotropic configuration of the support stiffness. The present analysis considers a symmetric rotor-shaft system on viscous-flexible supports with different stiffness on two orthogonal planes containing the bearing axis. The internal friction of the shaft is described either by a linear hysteretic model or by a nonlinear Coulombian force contrasting the rotor motion relative to the shaft ends. The nonlinear equations of mo…

A computational magnetohydrodynamic model of a marine propulsion system

2016

In this article we present an approach to the description of Magnetohydrodynamic Propulsion. Preliminarly, an analytical model which includes an electromagnetic model and a thermal model is presented. Successively, in order to move beyond the analytical model, a 3-D MHD modeling tool and a Runge Kutta method based solver are presented and they are used to investigate an alternative MHD solutions. Some numerical analysis are given.

Correlation and Spectral Properties of Vehicle-to-Vehicle Channels in the Presence of Moving Scatterers

2013

This paper derives a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) channel model assuming a typical propagation scenario in which the local scatterers move with random velocities in random directions. The complex channel gain of the proposed V2V channel model is provided. Subsequently, for different scatterer velocity distributions, the corresponding autocorrelation function (ACF), power spectral density (PSD), and the Doppler spread of the channel are derived, shown, and confirmed by the available measurement data. It is shown that the Gaussian mixture (GM) and the exponential distribution can accurately describe the velocity distribution of relatively fast and slow moving scatterers, respectively. Since the p…
