Modeling and improvement of the tricycle braking system for controlled skidding
2021
In the current paper was approached the braking system of tricycles for controlled skidding, which are used by lovers of extreme sports. The complete modeling of such a tricycle has been performed and its braking system has been improved for a great performance and a better controlled braking. Also, simulation tests were performed using the finite element to achieve the best constructive variant of the brake disc.

Satisfaction and loyalty in B2B relationships in the freight forwarding industry: adding perceived value and service quality into equation
2018
This paper focuses on analysing the determinants of satisfaction (service quality, perceived value), as well as its possible influence on customer loyalty of freight forwarders to freight transport service providers (by road/maritime/air) in Spain. To this end, we propose a causal model tested using information from 205 freight forwarders collected through personal interviews. The model was estimated using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach. Moreover, the existence of differences in the perceptions on the analysed variables between transport modes is tested through ANOVA. Results show that service quality has an influence on customer satisfaction, both directly, as well as through per…
An uncommon case of sarcomatoid urothelial carcinoma in covered bladder exstrophy
2016
Abstract We report a case of a woman affected by covered exstrophy, uterus didelphys and external genital malformation presenting with advanced bladder cancer. After neoadjuvant therapy and anterior pelvic exenteration, the abdominal wall was reconstructed with a pedicled myocutaneous muscle-sparing vastus lateralis flap.
Validation of the Cycling Behavior Questionnaire: A tool for measuring cyclists' road behaviors
2018
Abstract Introduction Even though cycling is an activity whose benefits in terms of urban mobility and health are globally recognized, its disproportional growth during the past few decades has led to some unexpected dynamics. In fact, the increasing number of traffic injuries and deaths involving cyclists has a high cost for public health systems. Considering the available empirical evidence, aberrant and positive behaviors on the road constitute relevant predictors for the injuries suffered by road users. Nevertheless, the scarcity of tools that measure and evaluate the behavior of road users, especially in the case of cyclists, constitutes a serious lack in terms of explaining, interveni…
Conocimiento, traza e ingenio en la arquitectura valenciana del siglo XV
2012
In the last decades historiography of gothic architecture in the Crown of Aragon has focused on buildings monographs, documentary research and technical change in stone building. On the other hand, historians of technology have given special attention to the issue of innovation and its diffusion in the late Middle Ages, considering building techniques as a particular field of research. This essay studies transmission of technical knowledge in building trades in order to explain architectural changes in an outstanding environment of innovation such as the kingdom of Valencia in the 14th and 15th centuries, especially from 1430 onwards. Having account of previous research and some cases of st…
The parental bond, resistance to peer influence and risky driving in adolescence
2014
The present study examined the relations between gender, the parental bond, resistance to peer influence, and risky driving. In particular, the mediating role of resistance to peer pressure in the relationship between parental bond and risky driving was examined. The moderating role of gender on these associations was also investigated. The sample comprised 322 adolescents (136 males and 186 females), aged from 16 to 20 years, who were living in northern Italy. Path analysis results showed that the maternal bond only indirectly influenced adolescents’ risky driving, via resistance to peer influence. On the contrary, the paternal bond was neither directly nor indirectly associated with risky…
Optimization of BESS Capacity Under a Peak Load Shaving Strategy
2018
Battery energy storage systems (BESSs) are becoming increasingly competitive in the global energy landscape, thanks to the strong cost reduction that has taken place in recent years and it is expected to continue in the next future. Among the many benefits BESSs can provide, time shifting can be exploited by electricity consumers to save on the electricity bill, charging the storage during the off-peak hours and discharging when the cost of electricity is high. This paper describes a simple procedure to optimize the BESS capacity under a peak load shaving strategy, in presence of a time-of-use (TOU) electricity rate, able to guarantee, at the same time, the flattest daily power diagram and …
Identification of factors increasing the risk of pedestrian death in road accidents involving a pedestrian with a motor vehicle
2023
Walking is a basic form of activity for every human being and has many advantages, including health, economic and environmental benefits. Every journey made using various means of transport begins and ends on foot. As is well known, the group of road users particularly exposed to the risk of serious injury in road accidents, apart from cyclists, also includes pedestrians. These are the so-called vulnerable road users. Pedestrians are a group of road users that is often deprecated by many drivers of motor vehicles, but very important in road traffic. Pedestrian injuries and pedestrian fatalities have enormous social and economic consequences. The problem of high pedes-trian risk on Polish ro…
