Dopamine autoreceptor agonists in the treatment of schizophrenic disorders
1993
Abstract 1. Synthesis and release of dopamine as well as firing rates of dopaminergic neurons are controlled by stimulation of autoreceptors via a negative feedback regulation, investigations on therapeutic effects of autoreceptor-nonselective dopamine agonists in schizophrenia have yielded inconsistent results. 2. With respect to the dopamine hypothesis of schizophrenia, dopamine autoreceptor agonists have been tested in positive schizophrenic symptomatology in order to reduce the postulated excess of central dopaminergic activity. However, administration of selective dopamine autoreceptor agonists like talipexole or roxindole did not result in a significant improvement of psychopathologic…
Il paradigma proprietario e l'appropriazione dell'immateriale
2014
Uno studio sui paradigmi dell'appropriazione materiale e immateriale, con particolare attenzione per il diritto privato europeo e dalle prospettive dei limiti dei diritti e dell'evoluzione tecnologica. A study on the paradigms of the material and immaterial appropriation, with particular attention to the european private law and from the perspective of limitations to the rights and technological innovation.
Opioid Inhibition of Oxytocin Release, but not Autoinhibition of Dopamine Release May Involve Activation of Potassium (K+) Channels
1991
ABSTRACT Release of oxytocin (Ox) or dopamine (DA) from the isolated neural lobes or neurointermediate lobes, respectively, was evoked by high K + (30 or 45 mM). Naloxone (1-10 μmol/l) which largely enhances the impulse-induced release of Ox had no effect on Ox release evoked by 30 or 45 mM K + . In the presence of 10 mM tetraethylammonium (TEA), Ox release evoked by 30 or 45 mM K + was increased 2-3fold; nevertheless, naloxone caused a further 2-3fold increase. Barium (500 μM) and quinidine (300 μM) antagonized the effect of naloxone observed in the presence of TEA. (-)-Sulpiride (10 μM) enhanced the release of DA evoked by 30 and 45 mM K + by 94 % and 19 %, respectively. TEA enhanced the …
Online topology estimation for vector autoregressive processes in data networks
2017
An important problem in data sciences pertains to inferring causal interactions among a collection of time series. Upon modeling these as a vector autoregressive (VAR) process, this paper deals with estimating the model parameters to identify the underlying causality graph. To exploit the sparse connectivity of causality graphs, the proposed estimators minimize a group-Lasso regularized functional. To cope with real-time applications, big data setups, and possibly time-varying topologies, two online algorithms are presented to recover the sparse coefficients when observations are received sequentially. The proposed algorithms are inspired by the classic recursive least squares (RLS) algorit…
The existence of FGFR1-5-HT1A receptor heterocomplexes in midbrain 5-HT neurons of the rat: relevance for neuroplasticity.
2012
The ascending midbrain 5-HT neurons to the forebrain may be dysregulated in depression and have a reduced trophic support. Within situproximity ligation assay (PLA) and supported by coimmunoprecipitation and colocation of the FGFR1 and 5-HT1A immunoreactivities in the midbrain raphe cells, evidence for the existence of FGFR1–5-HT1A receptor heterocomplexes in the dorsal and median raphe nuclei of the Sprague Dawley rat as well as in the rat medullary raphe RN33B cells has been obtained. Especially after combined FGF-2 and 8-OH-DPAT treatment, a marked and significant increase in PLA clusters was found in the RN33B cells. Similar results were reached with the FRET technique in HEK293T cells,…
A Forecasting Support System Based on Exponential Smoothing
2010
This chapter presents a forecasting support system based on the exponential smoothing scheme to forecast time-series data. Exponential smoothing methods are simple to apply, which facilitates computation and considerably reduces data storage requirements. Consequently, they are widely used as forecasting techniques in inventory systems and business planning. After selecting the most adequate model to replicate patterns of the time series under study, the system provides accurate forecasts which can play decisive roles in organizational planning, budgeting and performance monitoring.
Volatility Transmission Models: A Survey
2005
This study reviews the literature on volatility transmission in order to determine what we have learnt about the different methodologies applied. In particular, GARCH, regime switching and stochastic volatility models are analysed. In addition, this study covers several concrete aspects such as their scope of application, the overlapping problem, the concept of efficiency and asymmetry modelling. Finally, emerging topics and unanswered questions are identified, serving as an agenda for future research.
