The reaction of 3-benzoyl-5-phenylisoxazole (4) and 3-acetyl-5-methylisoxazole (5) with phenylhydrazine and N-methyl-N-phenylhydrazine has been investigated and the reactivity of (E)- and (Z)-phenylhydrazones and N-methyl-N-phenylhydrazones has been studied.

Abstract Treatment of the copper(I) trifluoromethanesulphonate toluene complex {[Cu(CF3SO3)]2 · C6H5Me} (1) with phthalazine (phtz, C8H6N2) in dichloromethane-acetonitrile solution yielded, via the bis(acetonitrile)tris(μ-phthalazine)dicopper(I) trifluoromethanesulphonate intermediate (2), the novel bis(phthalazine)tris(μ-phthalazine)dicopper(I) trifluoromethanesulphonate salt (3). Compound 3 was completely characterised and the molecular structure determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Three polynuclear compounds containing copper(II) and 1,4,5,8,9,12-hexaazatriphenylene (hat) as the basic building blocks have been prepared, [Cu4(hat)2Cl8]n·6nH2O 1, [Cu(hat)(H2O)2]n[NO3]2n2, and [Cu2(hat)(H2O)6]n[SO4]2n·2nH2O 3, their crystal structures determined and variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility data measured. The basic building block in 1 is the dinuclear [Cu2(hat)Cl4] entity, two such units being connected to tetranuclear units through relatively strong axial Cu–Cl bonds (out-of-plane di-μ-chloro bridges). 3-Oximino-2,4-pentanedione (1) and ethyl 2-oximino-3-oxobutanoate (6) reacted with N,N-dimethylformamide dimethylacetal (DFDA) to give 1,7-bisdimethylamino-3,5-dioxo-4-methoximinohepta-1,6-diene (4) and ethyl 5-dimethylamino-2-methoximino-3-oxo-4-pentenoate (8), respectively. When compounds 4 and 8 were treated with hydrazine hydrate, they gave O-methyldipyrazol-3(5)-ylketoxime (5) and ethyl 2-methoximino-3(5)-pyrazolylethanoate (9) together with its corresponding hydrazide 10, respectively. AbstractSmall-molecule fluorophores enable the observation of biomolecules in their native context with fluorescence microscopy. Specific labelling via bioorthogonal tetrazine chemistry confers minimal label size and rapid labelling kinetics. At the same time, fluorogenic tetrazine-dye conjugates exhibit efficient quenching of dyes prior to target binding. However, live-cell compatible long-wavelength fluorophores with strong fluorogenicity have been difficult to realize. Here, we report close proximity tetrazine-dye conjugates with minimal distance between tetrazine and fluorophore. The cyclocondensation of 6-acetyl-4,7-dihydro-5-methyl-7-phenyl[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (3) with hydroxylamine or hydrazine leads to 3a,4,9,9a-tetrahydro-3,9a-dimethyl-4-phenylisoxazolo-[5,4-d][1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (4a) and 3a,4,9,9a-tetrahydro-3,9a-dimethyl-4-phenyl-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d][1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (4b), respectively. In the presence of methanolic hydrogen chloride, 4b undergoes a cleavage of the pyrimidine ring to yield (5-amino-1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-4-yl)phenylmethane (5). The structure determination of the compounds obtained is based on 1H and 13C nmr spectra including NOE measurements.

AbstractMonodisperse oligo(phenylenevinylene)s end-capped with arylamines have been prepared via Horner Olefinations from bisphosphonates and arylaminobenzaldehydes. The influences of the conjugation length, different arylamine end groups, and of side chains with various electronic character on the electrical and optical properties of the chromophores are investigated. The elongation of the π-conjugated segment from 3 to 5 rings gives rise to bathochromic shifts of the electronic spectra and a slight increase of the oxidation potential.
