Branching fraction andCP-violation charge asymmetry measurements forB-meson decays toηK±,ηπ±,η′K,η′π±,ωK, andωπ±

2007

The authors present measurements of the branching fractions for B{sup 0} meson decays to {eta}{prime}K{sup 0} and {omega}K{sup 0}, and of the branching fractions and CP-violation charge asymmetries for B{sup +} meson decays to {eta}{pi}{sup +}, {eta}K{sup +}, {eta}{prime}{pi}{sup +}, {eta}{prime}K{sup +}, {omega}{pi}{sup +}, and {omega}K{sup +}. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, represent 383 million B{bar B} pairs produced in e{sup +}e{sup -} annihilation. The measurements agree with previous results; they find no evidence for direct CP violation.

Spectral distribution for the decay τ→ντKπ

2006

Abstract With the newly available data sets on hadronic τ decays from the B -factories BaBar and BELLE, and future data from BESIII, precise information on the decay distributions will soon become available. This calls for an improvement of the decay spectra also on the theoretical side. In this work, the distribution function for the decay τ → ν τ K π will be presented with the relevant Kπ vector and scalar form factors being calculated in the framework of the resonance chiral theory, also taking into account additional constraints from dispersion relations and short-distances. As a by-product the slope and curvature of the vector form factor F + K π ( s ) are determined to be λ + ′ = 25.6…

Correlated neutral B meson decays into CP eigenstates

2003

In the two correlated $B$ meson decay experiment we propose to measure intensities relating CP eigenstate ($J/\psi K_{S,L}$) decays on $both$ sides, which will be measurable in future upgrades of KEK and PEP. As a CP-forbidden transition, we obtain $I(J/\psi K_S, J/\psi K_S, \Delta t) \sim \sin ^2 (2\beta)$. We calculate in a model independent way all the possible intensities relating final CP and flavour eigenstate decays. Under CPT-invariance, the asymmetries for processes related by CP$\Delta t$ vanish for $\Delta \Gamma =0$ and measure $\Delta \Gamma$ linearly. We notice the impossibility to isolate the sign of $\cos (2\bet a)$ without an independent knowledge of the sign of $\Delta \Ga…

Impact of squark generation mixing on the search for gluinos at LHC

2009

We study gluino decays in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) with squark generation mixing. We show that the effect of this mixing on the gluino decay branching ratios can be very large in a significant part of the MSSM parameter space despite the very strong experimental constraints on quark flavour violation (QFV) from B meson observables. Especially we find that under favourable conditions the branching ratio of the QFV gluino decay (g) over tilde -> c (t) over tilde)((c) over tildet)(chi) over tilde (0)(1) can be as large as similar to 50%. We also find that the squark generation mixing can result in a multiple-edge (3- or 4-edge) structure in the charm-top quark invariant…

Long distance chiral corrections in B meson amplitudes

2003

We discuss the chiral corrections to f_B and B_B with particular emphasis on determining the portion of the correction that arises from long distance physics. For very small pion and kaon masses all of the usual corrections are truly long distance, while for larger masses the long distance portion decreases. These chiral corrections have been used to extrapolate lattice calculations towards the physical region of lighter masses. We show in particular that the chiral extrapolation is better behaved if only the long distance portion of the correction is used.

Study of heavy meson production in p–Pb collisions atS=5.02TeV in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme

2017

Abstract We study inclusive charm and bottom production, for both D and B mesons, in p–Pb collisions at the LHC. Numerical results for p T -differential production cross sections are obtained at next-to-leading-order in the general-mass variable-flavour-number scheme. We compare our results with recent data from ALICE, LHCb and CMS at a centre-of-mass energy of 5 TeV and find good agreement. A comparison with p–p cross sections does not reveal the presence of nuclear initial-state interaction effects that could be expected to become visible as deviations of the ratio of p–Pb and p–p cross sections from one.

Measurement ofb-jet shapes in inclusive jet production inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeV

2008

We present a measurement of the shapes of b-jets using 300 pb(-1) of data obtained with the upgraded Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF II) in p(p)overbar collisions at center-of-mass energy root s=1.96 TeV. This measurement covers a wide transverse momentum range, from 52 to 300 GeV/c. Samples of heavy-flavor enhanced jets together with inclusive jets are used to extract the average shapes of b-jets. The b-jets are expected to be broader than inclusive jets. Moreover, b-jets containing a single b-quark are expected to be narrower than those containing a b(b)overbar pair from gluon splitting. The measured b-jet shapes are found to be significantly broader than expected from the PYTHIA and H…

Measurement of branching fractions ofBdecays toK1(1270)πandK1(1400)πand determination of the CKM angleαfromB0→a1(1260)±π∓

2010

We report measurements of the branching fractions of neutral and charged B meson decays to final states containing a K_1(1270) or K_1(1400) meson and a charged pion. The data, collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, correspond to 454×10^6 BB pairs produced in e^+e^- annihilation. We measure the branching fractions B(B^0→K_1(1270)^+π-+K_1(1400)^+π-)=3.1_(-0.7)^(+0.8)×10^(-5) and B(B^+→K_1(1270)^0π^++K_1(1400)^0π^+)=2.9_(-1.7)^(+2.9)×10^(-5) (<8.2×10^(-5) at 90% confidence level), where the errors are statistical and systematic combined. The B^0 decay mode is observed with a significance of 7.5σ, while a significance of 3.2σ is obtained for the B^+ decay…
