An ergodic wideband MIMO channel simulator based on the geometrical T-junction scattering model for vehicle-to-vehicle communications
2010
In this paper, a wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) simulation model for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) channels in T-junction propagation environments is proposed. This simulation model takes the exact relationship between the angle-of-arrival (AOA) and the angle-of-departure (AOD) into account. In order to determine the parameters of the simulation model, the Riemann sum method (RSM) is applied. Furthermore, the statistical and ergodic properties of the simulation model are studied. Closed-form solutions are derived for the space-time-frequency cross-correlation function (STF-CCF), the two-dimensional (2D) spatial cross-correlation function (CCF), the temporal autocorrelation functi…
Adaptive SDN-based architecture using QoE metrics in live video streaming on Cloud Mobile Media
2017
The increasing adoption of smart phones, the increased access to mobile broadband networks and the availability of public cloud infrastructures are aligning to the next generation of truly ubiquitous multimedia services, known as Cloud Mobile Media (CMM) services. Nevertheless, due to an inherit higher and variable end to end delay mainly as a result of the virtualization process, new challenges appear in particular for live video streaming applications in order to keep a good Quality of Experience of the delivered video. Thus, to keep client's satisfaction at good levels in terms of Mean Opinion Score (MOS), we propose an adaptive Software Defined Networking (SDN)-based architecture runnin…
Dissemination protocol for Heterogeneous Cooperative Vehicular Networks
2012
International audience; The difficulties associated with network connectivity, unreliable channels, and city environment characteristics make data dissemination task in vehicular urban networks a real challenge. Recently, some interesting solutions have been proposed to perform data dissemination in this environment. Starting from the analysis of these solutions, we present a new dissemination protocol named DHVN (Dissemination protocol for Heterogeneous Cooperative Vehicular Networks) that considers: (i) roads topology, (ii) network connectivity and possible partitioning in case of low traffic density, and (iii) heterogeneous communication capabilities of the vehicles. We compare our proto…
Experimental demonstration of an ultrafast all-optical bit-error indicating scheme
2010
International audience; We experimentally demonstrate an all-optical bit error monitoring scheme based on the self-phase modulation occurring during the propagation in a highly nonlinear fiber followed by an optical bandpass filter. Numerical simulations are confirmed by experimental observations performed at a repetition rate of 40 Gb/s.
Solving Non-Stationary Bandit Problems by Random Sampling from Sibling Kalman Filters
2010
Published version of an article from Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Also available at SpringerLink: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-13033-5_21 The multi-armed bandit problem is a classical optimization problem where an agent sequentially pulls one of multiple arms attached to a gambling machine, with each pull resulting in a random reward. The reward distributions are unknown, and thus, one must balance between exploiting existing knowledge about the arms, and obtaining new information. Dynamically changing (non-stationary) bandit problems are particularly challenging because each change of the reward distributions may progressively degrade the performance of any fixed strategy. Study of Wine Producers’ Marketing Communication in Extreme Territories–Application of the AGIL Scheme to Wineries’ Website Features
2020
This study measures the communication ability of wineries in two extreme territories of Southern Italy, Mount Etna and the island of Pantelleria. The evaluation of four dimensions of web communication was carried out by the AGIL Scheme (i.e., adaptation, goal-attainment, integration, latent pattern maintenance). The study provides a generalizable model to be applied in other similar studies. Additionally, focus groups of experts were carried out. The method proved to be suitable to measure the communication effectiveness of wineries through websites. Extreme territories may add value to the wine, regardless of the brand. The heroic wines may become the symbol of these territories, helping e…
Performance analysis of the out-of-band signaling scheme for high speed wireless LANs
2005
In this paper, we study the performance of our earlier proposed out-of-band signaling (OBS) scheme for high speed wireless local area networks (WLANs). We employ the system approximation technique for modeling of the OBS scheme. An equivalent state dependent single server queue, that describes the OBS scheme, is constructed for the analysis of the throughput and delay performances. Moreover, we study the throughput optimization of the OBS scheme, which provides a means for optimizing the performance of the OBS scheme, given a particular network environment. Finally, we conduct several simulation experiments to validate our analytical results.
Thompson Sampling Guided Stochastic Searching on the Line for Adversarial Learning
2015
The multi-armed bandit problem has been studied for decades. In brief, a gambler repeatedly pulls one out of N slot machine arms, randomly receiving a reward or a penalty from each pull. The aim of the gambler is to maximize the expected number of rewards received, when the probabilities of receiving rewards are unknown. Thus, the gambler must, as quickly as possible, identify the arm with the largest probability of producing rewards, compactly capturing the exploration-exploitation dilemma in reinforcement learning. In this paper we introduce a particular challenging variant of the multi-armed bandit problem, inspired by the so-called N-Door Puzzle. In this variant, the gambler is only tol…
Azido bridged binuclear copper(ii) Schiff base compound: synthesis, structure and electrical properties
2019
An azido bridged dinuclear complex [Cu(L−)(μ1,1N3)]2 (1) was synthesized by a 1 : 1 condensation of N-cyclohexyl-1,3-propanediamine and 5-bromosalicylaldehyde (HL). The complex was subsequently characterized based on elemental analyses, IR, single-crystal X-ray diffraction, a Hirshfeld study, FESEM, ESI-MS, powder XRD and also DFT studies successfully. The X-ray crystal structure of complex 1 revealed that the Cu(II) ion exhibited a definite five-coordinate square pyramidal coordination arrangement with a centro-symmetric μ 1,1-azido bridging in the end-on mode and formed a dimeric structure. The optical direct band gap of complex 1 was estimated to be 2.84 eV. The current–voltage character…
