The most common tick-borne human disease in Norway is Lyme borreliosis. Ticks in Norway also harbour less known disease-causing agents such as Candidatus Neoehrlichia mikurensis, Borrelia miyamotoi and Rickettsia helvetica. However, human infections caused by these pathogens have never been described in Norway. The main aims of the study were to evaluate the contribution of several tick-borne bacterial agents, other than Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, to zoonotic diseases in Norway and to determine their clinical pictures. To evaluate seroprevalence of B. henselae infection both in Sicilian children and healthy blood donors. Furthermore, circulation of Bartonella in the natural reservoir was also studied. Two hundred forty-three children, living in Sicily (Palermo), affected by various diseases, without clinical features suggesting B. henselae infection, together with 122 healthy blood donors were serologically investigated for IgG and IgM antibodies by indirect fluorescent antibody test (IFAT). One hundred twenty stray and 62 pet cats were also analyzed only for IgG. L’opera di Roland Barthes (semiologo, saggista, critico letterario fra i principali nel Novecento) è ancora ricca di idee e di modelli per leggere il nostro presente. Questo lessico concettuale prova a ricomporne i pezzi: una trentina di parole chiave con molti rimandi fra loro. I lemmi hanno natura diseguale ma tono analogo, in modo da far emergere la poliedricità di interessi di questo autore e la rigorosità dello sguardo che li attraversa. Sulla base della documentazione manoscritta, anche inedita, e di altre fonti si ripercorrono le vicende che portarono nel 1816 Barthold Georg Niebuhr a scoprire il palinsesto delle Istituzioni di Gaio nella Biblioteca Capitolare di Verona e si discute criticamente la casualità di tale scoperta.

In diesem Buch ist die Geschichte der Wiederentdeckung des Palimpsests mit den Gaius-Institutionen durch Barthold Georg Niebuhr neu verhandelt. Die jüngst wiederbelebte These von einer „angekündigten Entdeckung“ wird in Frage gestellt. Das verzerrte Bild des Niebuhrschen Fundes in der Sicht dieser These ist kein Zufall. Es stellt sich vielmehr als später Nachklang wissenschaftlicher Querelen jener Zeit dar. Die These der „angekündigten Entdeckung“ erweist sich bei gründlicher Nachprüfung anhand der Quellen als spekulativ, der Fund ist als eigene Leistung Niebuhrs anzuerkennen.
