Measurement of the spin of the Xi(1530) resonance
2008
The properties of the Xi(1530) resonance are investigated in the Lambdac+ --> Xi- pi+ K+ decay process. The data sample was collected with the BaBar detector at the SLAC PEP-II asymmetric-energy e+ e- collider operating at center of mass energies 10.58 and 10.54 GeV. The corresponding integrated luminosity is approximately 230 inverse fb. The spin of the Xi(1530) is established to be 3/2. The existence of an S-wave amplitude in the Xi- pi+ system is inferred, and its interference with the Xi(1530)0 amplitude provides the first clear demonstration of the Breit-Wigner phase motion expected for the Xi(1530). The P_1(cos[theta(Xi-)]) Legendre polynomial moment indicates the presence of a sig…
HEAVY HADRON SPECTROSCOPY: A QUARK MODEL PERSPECTIVE
2012
We present recent results of hadron spectroscopy and hadron hadron interaction from the perspective of constituent quark models. We pay special attention to the role played by higher-order hock space components in the hadron spectra and the connection of this extension with the hadron-hadron interaction. The main goal of our description is to obtain a coherent understanding of the low-energy hadron phenomenology without enforcing any particular model, to constrain its characteristics and learn about the low-energy realization of the theory.
Light baryons and their electromagnetic interactions in the covariant constituent quark model
2012
We extend the confined covariant constituent quark model that was previously developed by us for mesons to the baryon sector. In our numerical calculation we use the same values for the constituent quark masses and the infrared cutoff as have been previously used in the meson sector. In a first application we describe the static properties of the proton and neutron, and the $\Lambda$-hyperon (magnetic moments and charge radii) and the behavior of the nucleon form factors at low momentum transfers. We discuss in some detail the conservation of gauge invariance of the electromagnetic transition matrix elements in the presence of a nonlocal coupling of the baryons to the three constituent quar…
Heavy-antiquark–diquark symmetry and heavy hadron molecules: Are there triply heavy pentaquarks?
2013
We explore the consequences of heavy flavor, heavy quark spin, and heavy antiquark-diquark symmetries for hadronic molecules within an effective field theory framework. Owing to heavy antiquark-diquark symmetry, the doubly heavy baryons have approximately the same light-quark structure as the heavy antimesons. As a consequence, the existence of a heavy meson-antimeson molecule implies the possibility of a partner composed of a heavy meson and a doubly heavy baryon. In this regard, the D (D) over bar* molecular nature of the X(3872) will hint at the existence of several baryonic partners with isospin I = 0 and J(P) = 5(-)/2 or 3(-)/2. Moreover, if the Z(b)(10650) turns out to be a B*(B) over…
Interaction of vector mesons with baryons and nuclei
2012
After some short introductory remarks on particular issues on the vector mesons in nuclei, in this paper we present a short review of recent developments concerning the interaction of vector mesons with baryons and with nuclei from a modern perspective using the local hidden gauge formalism for the interaction of vector mesons. We present results for the vector baryon interaction and in particular for the resonances which appear as composite states, dynamically generated from the interaction of vector mesons with baryons, taking also the mixing of these states with pseudoscalars and baryons into account. We then venture into the charm sector, reporting on hidden charm baryon states around 4…

Dynamically generated resonances from the vector octet-baryon octet interaction
2010
We study the interaction of vector mesons with the octet of stable baryons in the framework of the local hidden gauge formalism using a coupled-channels unitary approach. We examine the scattering amplitudes and their poles, which can be associated to known J(P) = 1/2(-), 3/2(-) baryon resonances, in some cases, or give predictions in other ones. The formalism employed produces doublets of degenerate J(P) = 1/2(-), 3/2(-) states, a pattern which is observed experimentally in several cases. The findings of this work should also be useful to guide present experimental programs searching for new resonances, in particular in the strange sector where the current information is very poor.

Λc+ production in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
2019
A measurement of the production of prompt Λc+ baryons in Pb–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the LHC is reported. The Λc+ and Λ‾c− were reconstructed at midrapidity (|y|<0.5) via the hadronic decay channel Λc+ → pKS0 (and charge conjugate) in the transverse momentum and centrality intervals 6<pT <12 GeV/c and 0–80%. The Λc+/D0 ratio, which is sensitive to the charm quark hadronisation mechanisms in the medium, is measured and found to be larger than the ratio measured in minimum-bias pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV and in p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. In particular, the values in p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions differ by about two standard deviations of the combined s…
Suppression of Λ(1520) resonance production in central Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV
2019
The production yield of the Λ(1520) baryon resonance is measured at midrapidity in Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The measurement is performed in the Λ(1520)→ pK− (and charge conjugate) hadronic decay channel as a function of the transverse momentum (pT) and collision centrality. The ratio of the pT-integrated production of Λ(1520) baryons relative to Λ baryons in central collisions is suppressed by about a factor of 2 with respect to peripheral collisions. This is the first observation of the suppression of a baryonic resonance at the LHC and the first 3σ evidence of Λ(1520) suppression within a single collision system. The m…
