Digestive disorders and Intestinal microbiota
2018
In the last decade, a barge body of scientific literature has suggested that specific alterations of the gut microbiota may be associated with ther development and clinical course of several gastrointestinal diseases, including irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, gastrointestinal cancer and Clostridium difficile infection. These alterations are often referred to as “dysbiosis”, a generic term designing reduction of gut microbiota biodiversity and alterations in its composition. Here, we provide a synthetic overview of the key concepts on the relationship between intestinal microbiota and gastrointestinal diseases, focusing on the translation of these concep…

New ECCO model documents for Material Deposit and Transfer Agreements in compliance with the Nagoya Protocol
2020
The European Culture Collections Organisation presents two new model documents for Material Deposit Agreement (MDA) and Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) designed to enable microbial culture collection leaders to draft appropriate agreement documents for, respectively, deposit and supply of materials from a public collection. These tools provide guidance to collections seeking to draft an MDA and MTA, and are available in open access to be used, modified, and shared. The MDA model consists of a set of core fields typically included in a deposit form to collect relevant information to facilitate assessment of the status of the material under access and benefit sharing (ABS) legislation. It a…

Seeking for the Grasp : An Iterative Subdivision Model of Conceptualisation
2019
Concepts are fundamental collective constructs of individual items that are capable of abstracting meaningfully homogeneous groupings of phenomena. This capability is a prerequisite for communication and action and gives structure to learning and memory. Our study is aligned with the vast paradigm that assumes embodied cognition, rooted in Merleau-Ponty (Phenomenology of perception (trans: C. Smith). Routledge and Kegan Paul, London, 1962), seminally articulated by Varela et al. (Embodied mind: cognitive science and human experience. MIT Press, Cambridge, MA, 1991) and existing today in a number of variants that have been reviewed by Wilson (Six views of embodied cognition. Springer. Psycho…
Subdirectly irreducible generalized sums of upper semilattice ordered systems of algebras
2002
In [15] the generalized sum of an upper (F 1 , F 2 )-semilattice ordered system of algebras was defined. In this paper we find necessary and sufficient conditions under which this construction yields subdirectly irreducible algebras.

We calculate the invariant and helicity amplitudes for the transitions ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}^{(*)}({J}^{P})+J/\ensuremath{\psi}$, where the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}^{(*)}({J}^{P})$ are $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}(sud)$-type ground and excited states with ${J}^{P}$ quantum numbers ${J}^{P}={\frac{1}{2}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$, ${\frac{3}{2}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$. The calculations are performed in the framework of a covariant confined quark model previously developed by us. We find that the values of the helicity amplitudes for the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}^{*}(1520,{\frac{3}{2}}^{\ensu…

LetK be a field, charK=0 andM n (K) the algebra ofn×n matrices overK.
