The Neapolitan man of letters Antonio di Gennaro Duke of Belforte (1717-1791) had a lenghty exchange of letters with Giovanni Cristofano Amaduzzi (1740-1792) starting from 1778; the contact between the two, who never met in person, was facilitated by Aurelio de’ Giorgi Bertola (1753-1798). The paper provides a short profile of Belforte, and describes his constant interest in music as well as his occasional activity as a librettist. Belforte's letters to Amaduzzi, still unpublished, are examined in order to collect information on the performances – in the court, theater or academy – he attended. The paper argues that everyday exchange of business emails produces a development in the work-group relationship, which, in turn, makes new communication styles possible and acceptable by the users' habit to computer-mediated forms, even in unbalanced professional exchanges. This presentation will document some results of an ongoing research focusing on the role of infrastructure in contemporary design practice. The methodology is based on critical design theory and combines theoretical aspects with a case-study approach, at the junction of infrastructure, urban design and architecture. It is already well documented that 19th and 20th century infrastructure have deeply affected their programs in order to face new challenges over the last 30 decades. The recent launching in Italy of a number of large scale urban operations centered around High Speed Railway (HSR) stations has added a wealth of examples and themes to the overall European picture; these go to make up a global point of reference for other countries that are, in this period, undertaking the construction of their own HSR networks. Englannin kielen käyttö yleisenä yhteisenä kielenä, lingua francana, on lisääntynyt niin maailmalla kuin Suomessakin erityisesti muutaman viimeisen vuosikymmenen aikana. Globalisaation myötä muutos on ollut kiivasta myös yritysmaailmassa. Ulkomaalaisen työvoiman käyttö Suomessa, esimerkiksi rakennus- ja metallialalla, on lisääntynyt, minkä johdosta englannin kielen käyttö yhteisenä kielenä metallialan yrityksissä on selvästi kasvanut. Työyhteisöjen lisääntynyt englannin kielen käyttö ei siis koske vain suomalaisia monikansallisia yrityksiä.
