L’altro sapere. Bello, Arte, Immagine in Leon Battista Alberti

2000

The great attention that, during the past few years, has been paid to Leon Battista Alberti has led to the creation of research centers and to the organization of exhibitions and conferences dedicated to him, but it has yet to result, especially in Italy, in a new approach to his aesthetic theories. This represents a serious scholarly gap, because Alberti was an important figure in the history of aesthetics, both for the role he played in the aesthetic and literary debates of the 15th century, as well as for the impact that his thought had on theory and art in subsequent centuries. The present volume constitutes an important tool to fill such gap. The volume centers on three key concepts: b…

A trade-off between current and future sex allocation revealed by maternal energy budget in a small mammal.

2011

Sex-allocation theories generally assume differential fitness costs of raising sons and daughters. Yet, experimental confirmation of such costs is scarce and potential mechanisms are rarely addressed. While the most universal measure of physiological costs is energy expenditure, only one study has related the maternal energy budget to experimentally controlled offspring sex. Here, we experimentally test this in the bank vole (Myodes glareolus) by simultaneously manipulating the litter's size and sex ratio immediately after birth. Two weeks after manipulation, when mothers were at the peak of lactation and were pregnant with concurrent litters, we assessed their energy budget. We found that …

2020

Luce da Luce φῶς ἐκ φωτός - Light on Light (Nūr 'alà Nūr) is a project that aims to identify elements that can allow the comparison between culture, tradition, rituality and religious aspects of Orthodox and Byzantine Christianity and the more mystical and interior dimension of Isl…

Abeilles et plantes cultivées en Espagne : actualisation des données pour le melon, la pastèque et l’amandier

2021

[EN] Pollinators of most of the plants cultivated in the Mediterranean regions of Europe are still unknown. We provide new data and we review previously available information on bees (Apoidea) associated with three economically important crops in Spain: melon (Cucumis melo L.), watermelon (Citrullus lanatus (Thunb.) Matsum. & Nakai) and almond (Prunus dulcis (Mill.) D.A.Webb). We found that, overall, 98 bee species spanning four families visit flowers of the studied crop species, and 46 additional species were sampled within the crops with pan-traps. The bee assemblages visiting melon include 7–33 species, with moderate to high importance of small Lasioglossum (Halictidae) and of honey bee …

Precise Measurement of the e+e−→π+π−J/ψ Cross Section at Center-of-Mass Energies from 3.77 to 4.60 GeV

2017

The cross section for the process e(+)e(-)-> pi(+) pi(-) J/psi is measured precisely at center-of-mass energies from 3.77 to 4.60 GeV using 9 fb(-1) of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in a fit to the cross section. The first resonance has a mass of (222.0 +/- 3.1 +/- 1.4) MeV/ c(2) and a width of (44.1 +/- 4.3 +/- 2.0)MeV, while the second one has a mass of (4320.0 +/- 10.4 +/- 7.0)MeV/c(2) and a width of (101.4(- 19.7)(+25.3) +/- 10.2) MeV, where the first errors are statistical and second ones are systematic. The first resonance agrees with the Y(4260) resonance reported by previous experiments. The precisi…

Bellezza e fragilità del patrimonio costiero siciliano.

2017
