Pantoprazole: from drug metabolism to clinical relevance.

2008

Conditions requiring inhibition of acid secretion, such as gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), peptic ulcers, non-ulcer dyspepsia or the use of NSAIDs, are very common, and their prevalence is expecting to rise as they are seen predominantly amongst the elderly. Among the drugs available to inhibit acid secretion, proton pump inhibitors (PPI) have been shown to have the best efficacy-safety ratio and have been used widely. This paper was intended to provide an overall presentation of one of these PPIs, pantoprazole. This study was first intended to give an overview of pantoprazole, so a Medline search was conducted using pantoprazole as unique search term, without publication date restr…

Relationship between hemoglobin levels and tumor oxygenation

2008

Tissue hypoxia is a powerful and independent adverse prognostic factor in solid tumors. As outlined in Chapter 11, one major factor causing tumor hypoxia is a decreased O2 transport capacity of the blood resulting from tumor-associated and/or therapy-induced anemia, which is a frequent complication seen in cancer patients (Ludwig et al. 2004; Birgegard et al. 2005).

Programming of neural progenitors of the adult subependymal zone towards a glutamatergic identity by Neurogenin2

2017

ABSTRACTWhile the adult subependymal zone (SEZ) harbors pools of distinct neural stem cells that generate different types of GABAergic interneurons, a small progenitor population in the dorsal SEZ expresses Neurog2 and gives rise to glutamatergic neurons. Here we investigated whether SEZ progenitors can be programmed towards glutamatergic neurogenesis through forced expression of Neurog2. Retrovirus-mediated expression of Neurog2 induced the glutamatergic neuron lineage markers Tbr2 and Tbr1 in cultured SEZ progenitors which subsequently differentiated into functional glutamatergic neurons. Likewise, retrovirus-mediated expression of Neurog2 in dividing SEZ progenitors within the adult SEZ …

Mitomycin C bei oberflächlichen Hornhautablationen mit dem Excimer-Laser: Eigene Erfahrungen und Literaturübersicht

2005

Haze formation with loss of corneal transparency and surface irregularities and myopic regression are the major complications after corneal refractive surface surgery. The use of mitomycin C (MMC) with its antibiotic and antineoplastic properties is intended to inhibit wound healing mechanisms leading to subepithelial fibrosis. We report the use of MMC to achieve visual rehabilitation in the re-treatment of 3 eyes of 2 patients following refractive corneal surgery. According to the literature, the local use of MMC 0.02 % for 2 minutes is safe and enables one to treat and prevent stromal haze and myopic regression and allows a reduction of the postoperative topical pharmacotherapy. Pastāvīgās pārstāvniecības darbības principi tiesiskā un demokrātiskā un tiesiskā valstī

2020

Maģistra darbā pētīta pastāvīgās pārstāvniecības institūta rašanās, attīstība un nozīme tiesiskas un demokrātiskas valsts diskursā. Pētījumā salīdzinošā tvērumā aplūkota jēdziena saturiskā izpratne Latvijā, Amerikas Savienotajās Valstīs un Vācijā. Pētījumā tiek konstatēts, ka pēc BEPS pasākumu ieviešanas ir plašinājies pastāvīgās pārstāvniecības jēdziena saturiskais tvērums. Šo izmaiņu rezultātā to reģistrēšana ir kļuvusi par nerezidentu nodokļu maksātāju obligāto pienākumu. Tomēr pārstāvniecības klātesamība valstī daudzos gadījumos joprojām ir neskaidra. Starptautiskie uzņēmumi saimnieciskās darbības veikšanai aizvien vairāk izmanto e-komercijas pakalpojumus. Tāpēc saistībā ar šī institūta…

Garderobekultur blant jenter i kroppsøving : hvordan opplever jentene dusj- og garderobepraksisen i kroppsøvingsundervisningen på ungdomsskolen?

2016

From Sequences to Variables : Rethinking the Relationship between Sequences and Outcomes

2021

Sequence analysis is increasingly used in the social sciences for the holistic analysis of life-course and other longitudinal data. The usual approach is to construct sequences, calculate dissimilarities, group similar sequences with cluster analysis, and use cluster membership as a dependent or independent variable in a regression model. This approach may be problematic, as cluster memberships are assumed to be fixed known characteristics of the subjects in subsequent analyses. Furthermore, it is often more reasonable to assume that individual sequences are mixtures of multiple ideal types rather than equal members of some group. Failing to account for uncertain and mixed memberships may l…

Environmental effects on the covariation among pace-of-life traits

2019

Pace‐of‐life syndromes (POLSs) are suites of life‐history, physiological and behavioural traits that arise due to trade‐offs between allocation to current and future reproduction. Traits generally show covariation that can arise from genetic and environmental influences on phenotypes and constrain the independent evolution of traits, resulting in fitness consequences and impacts on population dynamics. The notion that correlations among traits may vary among populations along environmental gradients suggests an important role for the environment in shaping and maintaining POLSs. However, no synthesis has been attempted of the myriad ways in which environmental factors should influence POLSs…

Tiesiskā nenoteiktība transfertcenu jautājumos

2018
