Eight-membered heterocycles with two heteroatoms in a 1,2-relationship of interest in medicinal chemistry

Abstract This chapter treats 1,2-diheterocines, eight membered heterocyclic systems with two heteroatoms, N, O and S, in an 1,2 relationship, exhibiting biological properties and exhaustively covers the literature from 2007 to the end of November 2019. In this period of time 1,2-diazocine, 1,2-oxazocine, 1,2-dioxocin and 1,5-dithiocin ring systems had derivatives exhibiting pharmacological activities. No articles on biological properties have been reported for 1,2-thiazocines and 1,2-oxathiocins. Besides uncondensed derivatives, 1,2-diheterocines fused with five-, six-, and seven-membered carbocycles or heterocycles have been reviewed, as well as bridged 1,2-diheterocines.
Gibberellic acid stimulates lipid metabolism in barley aleurone protoplasts

Abstract Changes in the lipid composition of barley aleurone protoplasts following incubation in the presence or absence of gibberellic acid (GA) were studied and correlated with cell development. Analysis of neutral lipids in protoplast extracts and purified lipid bodies provide evidence for the strong effect of GA on the mobilization of storage lipids. In vivo protoplast staining with the membrane marker N -phenyl-l-naphthylamine (NPN) and phospholipid determinations of protoplast extracts show an increase in membrane lipids during protoplast incubation. In loquat, apex of a current shoot changes from vegetative to reproductive stage during summer, i.e. under high temperature conditions. Indeed, just before floral bud differentiation, a decline in the growth rate due to high temperature takes place. The aim of this work is to study the role of this 'summer rest period' on the apex transition from vegetative to reproductive stage. Summary In the present report, a total of thirty-one isolates of Gibberella fujikuroi (Sawada) Wollenw. species complex of Fusarium (section Liseola) morphologically classified as F. moniliforme according to the taxonomy of Nelson, Toussoun and Marasas (1983) were analyzed for their ability to produce fumonisin B1 and fumonisin B2 by an optimized liquid chromatographic method. They were isolated from three hosts (Zea mays, Musa sapientum and Pinus pinea). The results indicate that M. sapientum is a preferential host for G. fujikuroi isolates with low or null capacity for producing fumonisins, while isolates from Z. mays and P. pinea are generally high fumonisin producers.
