Aims The aim of the study was to investigate the potential negative impact of type 1 diabetes on bone status of adolescents. Bone status in adolescents with type 1 diabetes was assessed by means of quantitative ultrasound (QUS) and the influence of metabolic control and other diseaserelated and growth variables was analysed. Methods Group I consisted of 99 pubertal (Tanner ≥2) adolescents (49 female), aged 14.3±2.5 years, diabetes duration 4.6±2.3 years. Controls (group II) were 297 children, matched by sex and age, from a healthy population. Since 1984 the typical headless double threaded Herbert/Whipple screw is known in managing scaphoid fractures and scaphoid non-unions. We resume technical, biomechanical and histological aspects to point out advantages and disadvantages of this osteosynthesis. Our case review of 39 patients illustrate the same good results as achieved in treating scaphoid injuries, when using the Herbert/Whipple screw of a larger diameter for expanded indications other than scaphoid fractures, such as humeral- or radial-head fractures, Jones fractures and others.

Francia in cui la Corte EDU ha stabilito che la legge francese 2010-1192, che proibisce la coperura del viso in tutti i luoghi pubblici, non viola il diritto delle donne di religione musulmana di indossare il burqa e il Niqab. Exponential instability in the fractional Calder\'on problem

In this note we prove the exponential instability of the fractional Calder\'on problem and thus prove the optimality of the logarithmic stability estimate from \cite{RS17}. In order to infer this result, we follow the strategy introduced by Mandache in \cite{M01} for the standard Calder\'on problem. Here we exploit a close relation between the fractional Calder\'on problem and the classical Poisson operator. Moreover, using the construction of a suitable orthonormal basis, we also prove (almost) optimality of the Runge approximation result for the fractional Laplacian, which was derived in \cite{RS17}.
