Accelerating data queries on Hadoop framework by using compact data formats
2016
There are massive amounts of data generated from IoT, online transactions, click streams, emails, logs, posts, social networking interactions, sensors, mobile phones and their applications etc. The question is where and how to store these data in order to provide faster data access. Understanding and handling Big Data is a big challenge. The research direction in Big Data projects using Hadoop Technology, MapReduce kind of framework and compact data formats such as RCFile, SequenceFile, ORC, Avro, Parquet shows that only two data formats (Avro and Parquet) support schema evolution and compression in order to utilize less storage space. In this paper, file formats like Avro and Parquet are c…
Guided local search for the optimal communication spanning tree problem
2011
This paper considers the optimal communication spanning tree (OCST) problem. Previous work analyzed features of high-quality solutions. Consequently, integrating this knowledge into a metaheuristic increases its performance for the OCST problem. In this paper, we present a guided local search (GLS) approach which dynamically changes the objective function to guide the search process into promising areas. In contrast to traditional approaches which reward promising solution features by favoring edges with low weights pointing towards the tree's center, GLS penalizes low-quality edges with large weights that do not point towards the tree's center.
Robust stabilisation of 2D state-delayed stochastic systems with randomly occurring uncertainties and nonlinearities
2013
This paper is concerned with the state feedback control problem for a class of two-dimensional (2D) discrete-time stochastic systems with time-delays, randomly occurring uncertainties and nonlinearities. Both the sector-like nonlinearities and the norm-bounded uncertainties enter into the system in random ways, and such randomly occurring uncertainties and nonlinearities obey certain mutually uncorrelated Bernoulli random binary distribution laws. Sufficient computationally tractable linear matrix inequality–based conditions are established for the 2D nonlinear stochastic time-delay systems to be asymptotically stable in the mean-square sense, and then the explicit expression of the desired…
Extensible User-Based XML Grammar Matching
2009
International audience; XML grammar matching has found considerable interest recently due to the growing number of heterogeneous XML documents on the web and the increasing need to integrate, and consequently search and retrieve XML data originated from different data sources. In this paper, we provide an approach for automatic XML grammar matching and comparison aiming to minimize the amount of user effort required to perform the match task. We propose an open framework based on the concept of tree edit distance, integrating different matching criterions so as to capture XML grammar element semantic and syntactic similarities, cardinality and alternativeness constraints, as well as data-ty…
Logical and pseudo-logical optical fibre networks based on two-state (binary) optical fibre sensors for industrial monitoring and control systems
2005
The possibilities of development of logical and pseudo-logical optical fibre networks for monitoring and control of equipment and industrial sites are presented. Such networks composed of simple binary attenuation and optical fibre communication lines may also be used as fast and reliable systems developing a final command signal - logical and/or pseudo-logical, depending or the architecture of network and the type of located sensors. They realise the process similar to standard electronic logical sets but use the optical signal directly on the monitored or controlled device. The analysis of serial and parallel networks was carried out in the "dark" mode detection. The examples of networks …
Adaptation of two-state (binary) optical fibre loop sensors for industrial use
2005
The paper presents an attempt to unify the construction of two state optical fibre loop sensor and possibility of adapting it to the various traditional constructions and casings of industrial sensors. This enables module structure of sensors based on construction of industrial application (master) and mensurative optical fibre loop (slave). Mensurative properties are determined by traditional (mainly mechanical) measuring system ex. temperature, displacement, and optical properties are determined by characteristics of auxiliary optical system (standardised and unified). Such attitude to a subject is illustrated in this paper by the examples of threshold displacement sensor, temperature, vo…
<title>Fiber optic monitoring buses with binary on-off sensors</title>
1999
This paper presents general theoretical considerations of complex-structure optical fiber networks (buses) with binary `on-off' fiber optic sensors and fiber optic transmission lines for monitoring, diagnostic or measurement systems. The principles of fiber optic serial and parallel buses and various types of intensity fiber optic binary sensors are described as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the individual types of networks. The choice of the use of fiber optic technology rather than other techniques is discussed. Special emphasis was put on the role and function of optoelectronic and optical fiber devices in harsh environments. Theoretical considerations are illustrated by th…
A Correlation Retina in Standard 0.6um : Application in Positioning System
2003
International audience; We have designed and fabricated a programmable retina that is capable of recognizing patterns stored in memory in real-time. Each of the pixels of the retina is composed of a photodiode and an electronic device used during the programming phase to digitize the image of the pattern to recognize into a binary image stored in latches. The array of pixels is thus partitioned into two complementary disjoint sub-sets with all the photodiodes of the same sub-set connected together in order to obtain the sum total of the currents. During the analysis phase, an optical correlation between the projected image and the reference binary image memorized in the circuit is done. The…
Range image binarization: applications to wooden stamps analysis
2003
This paper deals with the analysis of ancient wooden stamps. The aim is to extract a binary image from the stamp. This image must be the closer to the image produced by inking and using a printing press with the stamps. A range image based method is proposed to extract a stamped image from the stamps. The range image acquisition from a 3D laser scanner is presented. Pre-filtering for range image enhancement is detailed. The range image binarization method is based on an adaptive thresholding. Few simple processes applied on the range image enable a final binarized image computing. The proposed method provides here a very efficient way to perform "virtual" stampings with ancient wooden stamp…
2-(N,N-Diethylaminomethyl)-6,7-trihydroquinolinyl-8-ylideneamine-Ni(ii) chlorides: application in ethylene dimerization and trimerization
2020
A series of Ni(II) complexes with the general formula [2-((NEt2)Me)-8-{N(Ar)}C9H8N]NiCl2, where Ar = 2,6-Me2C6H3 in Ni1, 2,6-Et2C6H3 in Ni2, 2,6-i-Pr2C6H3 in Ni3, 2,4,6-Me3C6H2 in Ni4, 2,6-Et2-4-MeC6H2 in Ni5, and 2,4,6-t-Bu3C6H2 in Ni6, has been prepared using a one-pot reaction of 2-(N,N-diethylaminomethyl)-6,7-dihydroquinolin-8(5H)-one with the corresponding aniline and nickel dichloride hexahydrate. The resultant complexes were characterized using elemental analysis and FT-IR spectroscopy, while the mononuclear Ni1 and Ni3 were also the subject of single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. On activation with MMAO, the complexes Ni1–Ni6 displayed good activity in ethylene oligomerization, f…
